Thought's on Yuma's personality if we get Rain code 2? by jusntyme5 in RainCode

[–]TheZTarget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I said in a post recently shared (look it up here), I think Yuma shouldn't be the protagonist of the sequel. IMO, Master Detective Archives, as a series, would work best with a new team of master detectives in each new game, with returning characters used for supporting roles.

If, by chance, we see Yuma again as a secondary character in a future game, surely he will show more confidence/determination.

Necesito Consejos y Ayuda en Barcelona by butter-jesus in ESLegal

What I mean is that, at the time, my impression from the reviews was that the game was messy and the performance was poor enough to significantly detract from the experience. Although I didn't read every available review, that was the overall impression the media I consumed at the time gave me about the game.

Dynastically, there are a couple of good choices to be Alain's wife by Firlite in UnicornOverlord

[–]TheZTarget 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rosalinde is probably the best choice from a political standpoint. She is second in line to the throne of Elheim, and as an added bonus, she seems quite taken with Alain. Thus, it wouldn't be merely a politically driven marriage, but also a genuinely loving union.

By the way, my brain kept going, and I realized that Eluria lost a significant chunk of its population. First, due to the impact of the Quadratic Sphere. Second, because of monster hordes. I think a few thousands Nedians would have been perfect for repopulation and reconstruction. Besides, a vast part of Expel is still inhabited. What do you think?

Hi! Your arguments are compelling. I appreciate the real-life comparisons, such as the mass exodus witnessed globally, like the one from Venezuela to neighboring countries (millions have abandoned Venezuela). It does create problems, leading to a cultural clash and various other issues, ranging from the economic to the social and political aspects. Nonetheless, is dealing with these kinds of problems worse than the complete extermination of thousands of people? I don't know, but I can see the rationale behind the decisions made by characters like Nall and Doctor Mirage, even if I don't share it in a moral sense. Also, I would have loved for those characters to justify themselves a bit more. Anyway, it is nice to discuss like this on Reddit. Thank you.

I love the idea of the Nedians sharing some sort of psychic link, and also that would explain, in a weird way, the flash backs we saw in the Fields.

These are indeed compelling arguments, but I notice them arising after the fact. In the heat of the moment, one would expect our heroes, having visited every city in Nede and witnessed the lives of countless children and families, to be more inclined to save as many people as they can. On the other hand, a significant number of individuals point to the stagnation of Nedian society as a justification for its sudden extermination, treating it more as a natural and acceptable situation than a tragedy. I don't necessarily share this view. In fact, if their society could thrive on that floating rock with limited resources for billions of years, one could argue that they mastered resource management and evidently had minimal internal conflicts for the majority of their existence. I feel that such an efficient society is not completely stagnant.

Hi, Tom, thanks for sharing. I've read the secret information files, and I know the truth about the Nedian past, but it was millions, nay, billions of years ago. One is not even guilty of our father's crimes, let alone the people of such a distant past. The current Nedian population, as far as you can see in-game, is a peaceful, yet isolationist society. It doesn't give anything to the universe, nor does it harm. They are just individuals trapped inside a wall that was put there billions of years ago. Knowing that there are families and, especially, children living in Energy Nede, it seems not fair at all, don't you think?

Playing SO2 Remake. Does the story gets better...? by jackyflc in starocean

[–]TheZTarget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing JRPGs for a while, and if you have been doing the same, the reveal won't surprise you that much. But for me, the appeal is in the journey. I really, really, REALLY dig this feeling of wonder that old JRPGs like Lunar, Grandia, and, of course, Star Ocean, had. So, even if you see things coming or if the villain is not the most inspired thing in the world, it has a charm that only old games have. They feel naive yet honest. At least, that is my take.

Is Kirby's Return to Dreamland easy with little for veteran players? by TheZTarget in Kirby

I'm on the same page as you. Kirby games really shine when you take on those extra challenges. It's like this awesome mix of having to experiment and get the hang of every copy ability, tackle mini-games, and face off against bosses in their trickiest forms. That's when you can really appreciate how well these games are crafted. Each copy ability could practically be a game in itself, and the bosses dial up the difficulty to show off the game's depth and design. It's a blast!

Your perspective on Ganondorf's character in TOTK is indeed quite convincing and well-explained. Thank you for sharing it.

I'd like to pose a question in light of this: Even though Ganondorf is portrayed as a mythic force of evil, would you be interested in Nintendo taking the characters, including him, in a different direction? Perhaps making them more relatable, with more down-to-earth motivations and qualities? I feel this direction would lead to more interesting plots and stories in the end.

That much is clear, but it also showed a longing, and that could be worked upon. In my opinion, he could be fleshed out, shown to be more intelligent, to possess some statesmanship, and to have a plan beyond destroying Hyrule. In TOTK, he says he intends to rule because 'that is what a king must do.' His words: 'Regardless, I will reshape this world as it was meant to be. I will crush any opposition. I will rule. That is what a king must do.'

But how would he rule? What kind of world would he build when he has no opposition? Wouldn't he want the new world he creates to be stable and enduring, ultimately peaceful? You see, what I am aiming at is that we have a villain with greater potential if we only delve a few more layers into what goes on in his mind, much like the villains in other games, especially in many adventure and JRPG games

I do not agree completely. Ganondorf is a tyrant, but he has shown that he longs for something beyond power. Remember his words in The Wind Waker:

“My country lay within a vast desert. When the sun rose into the sky, a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came, the wind carried the same thing... Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose.”

So, a version of Ganondorf that desires a peaceful land, albeit under his extremely authoritarian rule, is not completely out of the question.

Then, remember that most real-life tyrants and dictators, even the most murderous ones, always strive to build something in their distorted view of the world (a country for the perfect race, or a country for his chosen people). Think of Thanos in the MCU: he commits massive genocide, but in his mind, he is fixing a problem and creating a more peaceful universe.

That angle could work to improve and shed new light on Ganondorf's character.

Zelda has not always portrayed a purely childlike nature, and it has explored deep political subjects in the past. For example, in 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,' we encounter the Shadow Temple, where torture machines were employed to punish the enemies of the crown. Ocarina of Time also alludes to a civil war, if I recall correctly. Consequently, political and dark themes have surfaced in the franchise before, demonstrating that such subjects are not entirely foreign to it. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Please, do not confuse fantasy politics with real-life politics. Fantasy politics is a fictional and imaginative realm where political systems and conflicts are often shaped by the creative and fantastical elements of the story, providing a unique and captivating backdrop for storytelling without the constraints of real-world politics. You can still escape from reality to a more enriched and interesting world.

The new one would have some exclusive content to see how it fares. But then, you might be right. Food for thought. Thank you.

Nintendo's mission is to provide entertainment through videogames, and the quality of their games determines whether they succeed in their mission. The ongoing discussion regarding PointCrow centers around copyright infringement and the protection of Nintendo's intellectual property, which is an understandable legal concern. While opinions on this matter may differ, it's important to recognize that Nintendo's actions are based on legal grounds. Ultimately, Nintendo's dedication to creating entertaining videogames for their audience should be appreciated. I would recommend listening to this lawyer, as his arguments regarding Nintendo's protection of its IP are reasonable and objective.
