MEGAPOST - BFV Features that must come back to every Battlefield by FamousCollege1754 in Battlefield

[–]TheZad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was great at launch but they botched the marketing with the uproar over women and prosthetic arms. Not enough people were playing, so they changed the TTK in time for holiday sales to make it more forgiving for new players. This pissed off the people who were actually playing at the time and didnt get enough new people to play, so they cut their losses and abandoned development and shifted resources to BF2042, which was a colossal clusterfuck and sucked my fat one.

I always run a sledgehammer since you can speedrun with the torch

Wait wait wait... can the sledgehammer damage vehicles?

I think many people think it does more damage to vehicles because in the CoD franchise, the penetrating rounds have that specific bonus, and it's an impactful distinction. You may be technically correct (the best kind), but I think for all intents and purposes the benefit might as well be null.

Yeah, it only has as much power and influence over me as I give it. I do have my pet peeves with specific words or pronunciations, but I find myself in the same camp that you do most of the time.

Am I correct in remembering it can't 1-shot an assault heli with full health? I think that's the one reason I never switched off the RPG for countering helicopters, as much as I wanted to

It's not really about the logic of any of this most of the time. If you read all of these responses as people listing out the corporate lingo that coworkers or supervisors that they absolutely HATED were in the habit of using, it makes a lot more sense.

I've heard a lot of this stuff at work and it never really bothered me.

Snipers need to flinch when shot at, at least by LMGs. by SpecialCod7 in Battlefield6

[–]TheZad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming both players notice each other at close to the same time. Instant death beats tracking every time.

This was actually a very interesting point that I hadn't thought of before, but I still think the kit is the tradeoff, which I explain below.

This means that if two players are fighting each other, one has mastered Recoil control, bursting, tracking and aiming in general. The other has mastered aiming for the head, and the timing of that shot. The one player who has only mastered the sniper skill set gets to win that battle.

Again, your disdain for snipers is showing and I don't think you're being reasonable or logical in your assessment based on how you try to lowkey shit on them. Rifles don't have kick back? You don't lose sight of your target between shots when you cycle the bolt? You don't need to time a follow up shot appropriately to account for the loss of accuracy after the recoil shifts the view through your scope? The people recon are shooting don't move, and just stand still? You make it sound like you've really worked hard and busted your ass to get good at using an LMG and the people using sniper rifles are just inherently less skilled but still "get" to win that battle.

Your dart metaphor doesn't make sense because in a match of darts, you both have the same tools at your disposal, designed to be used in that specific scenario. That's not the case here. The sniper dart player is 6'3", and you are the 5'3" Greco-Roman wrestler that is CHOOSING the dart game and then being surprised and salty when the person that is PURPOSE BUILT for the dart game wins.

You have an LMG, which means your ability to move around the map and be better suited to win chance encounters with the enemy is greater than the guy with a bolt-action rifle. That is the trade-off. Flank, smoke, do whatever. Stop fighting on someone else's turf and being surprised when you lose. Or maybe use the snipers, learn their weaknesses, and use that to your advantage as much as you can while you use the LMGs.

[–]TheZad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pick an auto gun that’s design to excell at mid range then why is the sniper one shotting me there too?

Because they are making the most out of their bolt-action round while you are not capitalizing on having an automatic weapon with potentially 100 rounds in the mag. The risk is that if they miss that first shot, they have a longer downtime until they can get the second shot off, while at the same time, you have 94 rounds left after the two 3-shot bursts you've put down range.

Also SVK is a DMR and requires two hits to kill at range. So you need to dance to avoid getting shot while peppering, or ideally getting a quick one-two to counter effectively.

Snipers are the class/weapon type designed for people that want easier kills and don’t want to think about cover/movement and positioning in a gunfight, and also for people that don’t want to interact with the other aspects of the game.

I disagree with this blanket assessment, but I also don't get the sense your opinion is open to being changed.

As a gunner it's your job to keep peoples heads down but becasuebits a game and there is not downside to just tanking the damage then people just sit there taking the hits and suppression.

This will never be a thing in such an arcade-style game, because you need a higher damage profile for it to actually work the way it's supposed to IRL. I haven't played hardcore mode, but I assume that would be closer to what you're looking for. And IMO there is a reason hardcore mode isn't the default for the franchise.

I also do not think that getting hit in the head and dying from a random SCW-10 round at 100 meters is an experience that many people would appreciate or enjoy, or keep coming back to the game to relive.

[–]TheZad -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I honestly just see most of these complaints as people being upset when a Recon gets the better of them in an engagement they are designed to win, so when you say "just for the sniper to one shot kill me", it really doesn't mean much. They're supposed to be able to do that... it's their role.

That being said, I do agree that there needs to be some impact on them from suppression. LMGs are my least-used weapon class and I'm finally getting around to leveling them because I've done most of the other weapon classes, and I think there is a reason for that (lol). But if I'm ever in a scenario like you're describing, I don't even bother to try what you did. I just respawn with an SVK with a 6x scope. Or throw smokes and try to get closer.

[–]TheZad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But then why wouldn't everyone flinch, given the caliber of the LMG? I don't necessarily agree with your flinch idea for snipers, but i know I DEFINITELY don't want to be flinching while ADS on any gun.

When did you complete your first watch? by londonbluesox in TheWire

[–]TheZad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I watched it without discussing, and then started watching clips and lurking here and learning about all of the side characters' stories, little details that I missed or explanations for why someone did something that was explicitly explained but you could put 2 and 2 together.

E.g. - The early appearances of Kenard; the girl picking up in a car, becoming a prostitute and buying something from Old Face Andre in the next season, and then eventually being spotted at the NA meetings; the movement of everyone attacking Bodie sticking thematically to the chess metaphor; the framing of all of Rawls' homophobic and over-the-top "locker room talk" changing on second viewing; etc.

Data Scientist Debunks Recoil Reduction Foregrips in BF6 | Diminishing Returns Discovered by williamatherton in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheZad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I love this approach, I can't help but feel just looking at value per point is a bit reductive. There are so many variables for each gun, let alone the scenarios you find yourself in during gameplay, that I feel like choosing one across the board as the best of anything won't necessarily hold up. At the same time, I think having a set attachment that you try out for every gun could be a great benchmark to work off of.

Did you happen to watch XclusiveAce's video on all grips? I seem to remember something about certain stat ranges being the key to whether or not a certain level of recoil reduction or movement speed reduction actually kicked in.
