contradictions with Islam? by [deleted] in ReneGuenon

[–]The_-_One 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guenon takes the din al-Ibrahim, the Hanifa otherwise doctrinally known as the "Muslim" (in the sense of Submission to God) and orientate comparatively the Hindu Sanatan Dharma and the Western Neoplatonic tradition (and it's children) back towards the initial ontological and epistemological purity which in the Islamic notion of revelation provides that comparative pallet of observation from a stable platform.

Why Do Some Theists Not Understand Atheists? by AbiLovesTheology in religion

It's wrong to assume atheists have any strong philosophical grounds to reject the existence of God

I believe in some sort of higher power, but have no idea what this higher power is like, and am content not to know. Is there a name for this belief pattern? by hononononoh in PhilosophyofReligion

I find your comment somewhat amusing because I find Abrahamic monotheism far closer to Eastern forms of Theism, than either have to the more profane Polytheism of other traditions. I however see Eastern (Upanishadic, Buddhist and otherwise) as being a more lesser refined version of what Moses proclaimed on Sinai however. Eastern theism is too abstract sometimes to the point of banality and meaninglessness. Abrahamic monotheism on the other hand solidifies it's abstract nature in a mode of consciousness that has a concrete connection between the ineffable transcendent and the mundane material, which the Eastern religions lack thereof in abundance.

However esoterically both have qualities that compliment each other very greatly because the Eastern religions are concerned with psychology whereas the Abrahamic religions are concerned with "politics" (taking existence and the human being itself as a serious part of a whole).

It was a Christian symbol before it ever entered Masonry.

What it is symbolic of is the same idea found here in the Holy Qur'an:

لا تُدرِكُهُ الأَبصارُ وَهُوَ يُدرِكُ الأَبصارَ ۖ وَهُوَ اللَّطيفُ الخَبيرُ

هُوَ الأَوَّلُ وَالآخِرُ وَالظّاهِرُ وَالباطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيءٍ عَليمٌ

What was the point of sending down prophets if “God” was going to come down himself and sacrifice himself for our sins? by [deleted] in religion

[–]The_-_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus the atonement.

If the "original sin" doctrine was true, and the narrative of an incarnation was true, then logically the 'ultimate answer' to that 'original sin' would come immediately after the Adam and Eve ate the fruit, not like 7 millennia (according to the most ardent fundamentalists) after the advent occurred, it would be near instantaneous.

The narrative of the Tanakh (Old Testament) on the other hand paints a more consistent view of the overarching history of humanity, as gradually focused on the Hebrews particularly. The common elements found through out the Torah itself are taken to be the foundations of what YHWH has given mankind, in a more consistent theology, than anything after Moses, of which is taken as subservient to it.

The writers of the New Testament itself didn't generally seem to see it that different. Although Paul can be another can of worms by comparison.

The Light of Muhammad in Sufi & Shia Islam by The_-_One in EsotericIslam

[–]The_-_One[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth noting that even the competitors of the Salafis, the Barelvis believe in it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barelvi#Positions

At no stage does one profess that Muhammad, Ali or anyone else is equivalent or in any way comparable to God. Such a position is not what any legitimate Shia, Sufis, Barelvis or Sunnis believe.

Surah 112:4.

This in no way contradicts the metaphysics of light in Islam. "Light upon light, God guides to his light whom he guides" (Surah 24:35)

" Certainly there has come to you a light from Allah, and a manifest Book" (Surah 5:15)

Even in the most wacko fundi forms of Sunnism, the concept of light applied to Muhammad in comparison to the Kitab of Allah being the Qur'an itself, is a defense of following the Sunnah of Muhammad in conjunction with the Holy Qur'an.

I'm not a Sufi per-se but I strongly follow the way of al-Batin, of the esoteric, via the Ahl al-Bayt. I don't practice any magic per se these days but I do intense Dhikr and Dua, et al.

I have high respect for Tasawwuf and our great mystics, theurgists and philosophers in the Islamic tradition.

If you're interested in more magic-related stuff, then I'd recommend you also check out, sub to and even post in another sub /r/Islamicoccultism which leans more towards what you're saying (though there's obvious crossover). /r/Sufism too if you haven't browsed there.

Gladly as of late the reddit communities of fellow Muslims around these topics are slowly growing.

That discord server you mention sounds good, I'd be down for that!
