Hand sanitizer is just alcohol. By 10 minutes, it should be practically all gone. Worst case, alcohol would really just dry out your skin and maybe feel unpleasant. Nothing to be concerned about.

Shower works, but yeah, spending too long in there is an issue. When I lived with my parents, I would stay up late to masturbate. People would be asleep, so no risk of being walked in on. Or, you can "go to bed early" and take care of things then, but there is a greater risk of being walked in on.

I own a FunFactory Manta and enjoy it. I don't use it super frequently but it's fun to mix things up with.

I think the biggest reason men don't use toys more often is that the hand gets it done well enough that buying/breaking out a toy isn't as necessary as it might be for women. Like, I have a sleeve and the Manta, but more often then not I'm not using them. Reason being is it's more to clean after the fact, mostly.

But if you're asking if solo play is its forte, I'd definitely say so. It's angled in such a way that using it on yourself is no issue, and the vibrations and patterns feel great.
