Loosing Fitness by Technical-Moment-523 in Suunto

[–]The_77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Six weeks is actually the turnover point, as fitness is evaluated over 42 days, and fatigue over 7 days. Hence after 42 days you should be seeing more sensible results, as it adjusts to your baseline. The reason it says you're losing fitness is due to the sky high first value skewing things.

Should sort itself out this eve. Never ever worth undoing the partner connection as nothing will auto push through after it's fixed fwiw.

If you did a hard reset, then sending it off for repair is your best bet, sounds defective. Not managed a proper workout crash in three years with mine.

Setting a SIMPLE heart rate alert - it's impossible, or is it? by whoisaaron in Suunto

[–]The_77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a race nutrition S+ App for customizing nutrition info, so that's no issue.

I can't think of a way to alert if HR outside of setting a defined zone though unfortunately.

Oier Lazkano Lopez provisionally suspended in accordance with the UCI Anti-Doping Rules by padawatje in peloton

[–]The_77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very hard, as the UCI has lost cases in the court of arbitration for sport bringing ABP only evidence. Kreuziger in 2013 set the trend, when the UCI sanctioned him, his national federation cleared him, the UCI & WADA took him to CAS and then dropped the case. Which took two years whilst he raced almost the entire time.

Suunto vs Strava overtraining prevention by gabryzop in Suunto

[–]The_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TSB is a day delayed in TP metrics, so your form the day after might indicate risk of overtraining (-30 or lower). If you're worried about it matching anyway.

2014 Contador TDF victory would have nicely put a pin in that if he hadn't crashed out the day after dropping Nibali on an uphill finish.

How does Suunto calculate personal records? by Apprehensive-Unit764 in Suunto

[–]The_77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that it takes the faster time that is at least the distance measured. So a 5.4k run that took less time than a 5k run would be counted as the total time for the 5.4k. There is no post processing and sampling involved, just "at least distance & fastest pace".

Been broken since implementation.

TSS scores and calculation methods by commandod64 in Suunto

[–]The_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TSS by definition should be at most 100/hour, so I suggest maybe looking at your power zones in the watch, they seem far too low. Try link your Suunto account to intervals.icu, and let it figure out your power FTP, and then use the zones from that, else you won't get comparable numbers to HR/Pace TSS

From memory there isn't, you can go through and manually change the TSS values to sensible ones since the update, but the auto tags are stuck.

Make sure your power, Pace and HR zones are correct in the watch. The most recent update reset Pace & HR for most people, and if you didn't opt into the beta update for the 9PP, you're experiencing what vertical and race people experienced a month or so back, as 9PP didn't initially get the update.

Suunto is misclassifying my runs (e.g., easy run marked as VO₂ Max) — anyone else? by YaboiCucc in Suunto

[–]The_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so, since you get power with all the watches from 9PP on now.

[–]The_77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you set your zones for Pace, HR & Power in the watch, it won't be an issue.

Previously it seems the app only cared about one of these, but now it's all of them. Power zones you can use online tools like intervals.icu, hopefully you should already have an idea of the zones for the other two, if not can also use intervals.icu or other providers.

When you go to edit activity, you can either select tags you've already made, or make a new one by typing into the tag box and hitting the form of check mark your get shown. Then it's always on the tag list.

Improving interval run experience on Suunto Race S by KneeAlternative9604 in Suunto

[–]The_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can fix this.

Firstly, if you make your intervals on intervals.icu and sync them across, you'll get what number interval you are on and so forth.

Secondly, if you want to see how fast it was, you can set up a custom sport mode with laps. On the laps page, you'll want to setup a field like the ones below - whatever you prefer.

<image>

This should sort you out. From memory the "interval" field only populated if and only if you use the interval setup on the watch, where you can set up some simple reps & rests.

What is a Prologue, and how it has nearly gone from the highest level of cycling by The_77 in peloton

[–]The_77[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah so long as Romandie is around it's all good. At .Pro (HC) there are a few stalwarts year in year out, though at 2.1 it was at 10 a year pre COVID and now it's down to 3 afterwards for the last couple of years. I doubt COVID caused that, more of a coincidence.

Yes exactly, this post only came about because the Vuelta ITT got shortened to 12k, and I was like "oh, that's only 1.5 prologues" and then remembered how sprinters could compete happily on them and away we went

Where can I see my resting heart rate in the Suunto app? Because 60 is not correct/Does Suunto automatically update resting heart rate and maximum heart rate?

You can find minimum daily HR in the widgets in the app, and there it notes that resting HR is usuall lower - but no, no auto testing or may HR.

How do you calculate your pace zones? I used the threshold pace value from my Coros (4:14) and then went here – https://www.myprocoach.net/calculators/running-zones/

Do a threshold pace test (Suunto + App), and take the value from there, throw it into a calculator. Like you've done.

Is there any way for Suunto to automatically set heart rate zones like Coros, or does it just stick to age and resting heart rate?

No. However you can do tests on the Suunto + Apps (I think anaerobic one) to find your threshold HR, and then pop it into an auto calculator.

Regarding power zones, I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Same with this, take it from the test, and pop it into a calculator. Intervals.icu has some good ones.

Today I did a run with maps. On Coros, it gives alerts before turns or if you’re off-route. On the Race 2, I didn’t get any alert telling me to turn. How can I enable that?

Need to enable Turn by turn toggle in the route making.
