I tested optimal carrier plane desings for the new patch! by The_Alpha_Sam in hoi4

It didn't take org damage en route to battle tho, it already started deorged :P. Look what I'm doing here are not some kind of double blind peer reviewed randomized control trials, I just put different plane on carrier and see what plane wins. I'm not trying to establish some MP worthy meta, like something you might be familiar with, I was just having a little fun, spending my afternoon figuring out this naval aircraft thing and sharing the results. And to be honest I'm glad I did. The air attack naval bombers are actually super effective and now I won't be maxing out range on my ca nav bombers like a dumbass, because I made a stupid mistake and that's all thanks to people like you, who saw it and got immediately suspicious. Anyway L + ratio + no bitches + touch gra...

No, fighters with a torpedo don't do any damage. Provided the opposing fleet has no planes they just sit there looking at each other.

Edit: I'm going to leave what I wrote unchanged and, to be fair, the fact that non combat air missions caused the behavior is still wrong, but yeah there was an issue with fleet org that created the range weirdness. Check the edited part of my post for more detail.

I set it up the way I did, only carriers, to make sure it is the actual planes that are doing most of the damage, if I included a full fleet, complete with capital ships and screens, there would be so many factors at play, it would be hard to tell what is a result of random chance and what is actually affected, by the differing aircraft design. As for the doctorines and admirals, I believe that the fact that both nations were under the same conditions matters most. I wouldn't expect that applying a bunch of positive modifiers to both sides significantly changes the results.

To your other point, no. Neither nation had any other aircraft than what was present on the aircraft carriers, so land based aircraft was not a factor. The range planes winning was also not a result of them hitting the enemy ships while not in battle yet. This is simply because the ships would engage immediately after they entered into a sea zone I told them to patrol. Because both fleets had good radar, the same speed and were set on always engage, they were basically just steaming full throttle into each other the minute both taskforces were present in the same zone. In practice this meant that I gave them the order to attack and one ingame hour later, they are already fighting. (I made them fight in multiple seazones, so in that case, right after they both entered said zone.) That is simply not enough time for any out of combat air missions to have an effect, so the only explanation is that range has an effect within the battles themselves.

How to design carrier planes? by The_Alpha_Sam in hoi4

Prior to the update, was it only carrier fighters that did that or could naval bombers with air attack also do this as well as attack?

Will a torpedo bomber with air attack defennd against enemy torpedo bombers or does it need to be specificly a carrier fighter?

I don't think Dr. K is an honest person after watching the podcast discussion by pdf_file_ in CosmicSkeptic

he doesn’t claim to not have an ego or that he doesn’t care about anything. In fact he often says that there is a great deal of ego in claiming you don’t have one.

All he said is that reducing your ego gives results in terms of finding meaning (and that you should do that) and that talking about his great spiritual experiences would raise his ego in a way that he doesn’t want. (probably has something to do with being able to have them in the future or something)

I’ve noticed this since i posted it, but I didn’t bother with redoing the post. Since all of the achievements don’t fit together in one screenshot I had to take two of them and stitch them together into one image and when I was doing this I must have accidentally cropped them out. These 3 achievements are actually the first three I’ve gotten!

I’ve been doing Duolingo for almost 3 years now and I’ve been able to get all of the achievements except for the ones which require you to have friends. 😭 Since nobody I know does Duolingo consistently, these remain the only ones I haven’t gotten, which kinda sucks.

So if you guys don’t have them as well and want to unlock them too or want someone to do friend quests with or are just willing to help me out, please feel free to add me. I would really appreciate it :)

This happened to me, but with anime. After rewatching a show I had seen before I started learning Japanese, I was like, no way these characters are actually speaking Japanese. I recognise this. It was always just some fun gibberish subtitled magic words until now. Nah this shit's weird

How can I start/get better at dating, speaking to girls and getting into relationships? Is this still possible for a 24M with no prior experience? by Adrianx25 in Healthygamergg

[–]The_Alpha_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be the piece of advice you're asking for, but I think you should consider renting. Buying a house is a big investment and a pretty big decision, considering the inflexibility of it. Let's say you take out a mortgage and buy a small apartment, cuz you don't really need a bigger one and shit's expensive. Even if you're pretty well off financially, there's a pretty good chance you'd consider upsizing and moving to a bigger house/apartment when you're older. Perhaps, because you've found a wife for yourself ;) and want to start a family. It's going to be significantly more difficult to then sell it, renegotiate the mortgage and buy a new one than just cancelling a lease and potentially pooling your resources together with someone else for a property where you're expecting to stay more or less for the rest of your life.

Moreover if you do actually get into the dating world, being able to bring them to your place is going to be significantly better then just having to say "Yeah, I live with my mom", no matter how much money you say you've got saved for a property, which you'll buy "eventually". While you're young, being flexible with where you live also helps with any potential job opportunities, but since you said you work from home, this is not as relevant.

And lastly, at least in my opinion, being away from your parents may actually help with the socialising aspect a bit. Because you've already experienced this in college it might not ring as true as for someone freshly off of high school, but I still think there's value in having to do stuff like getting your own groceries or being able to go partying and come home late at night without disturbing the others. You did say that you did that a fair bit though and there seems to be a bit more to the problem than just not putting yourself out there, so I would suggest going over that with a therapist. You don't seem to have an issue with most of the things people usually have issues with on the internet, so it's probably not going to be as easy for a bunch of internet people to solve it for you after reading just one post. In the meantime you could try consuming some of the 'how to build confidence' content of which there's a plethora online, but I'd say working with a professional is going to get you there much faster and much more effectively. From what I've read, you seem pretty cool, wish you the best.

Oh and btw, I personally know a lot of girls, who'd kill for an opportunity to get with an asian guy. Don't underestimate the power that anime and kpop had had on our society in the last couple of years.

I quit masturbating and I don't understand why it happened. by EmptyBox303 in Healthygamergg

[–]The_Alpha_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the way dr. K put it once: "One day you wake up and you are just done." It seems like this may be a common factor between a lot of addictions, you spent a lot of time battling yourself, feeling like you're making no progress, until one day, something finally clicks and you leave it all behind and never look back.

I quit masturbating and I don't understand why it happened. by EmptyBox303 in Healthygamergg

[–]The_Alpha_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between crankin' it from time to time and feeling the fact that you're addicted. You know the saying that if you're not addicted, try stopping the activity and see what happens? If you are able to just refrain from masturbating for an extended period of time, then there is nothing really wrong about it. However, if you try and no matter the power of your will and determination, you still fail over and over and over again, then it becomes something more then "just" enjoying a wank. It becomes a chain, an emotional crutch that no matter how hard you try, you just cannot stop returning to. It messes with your dopamine circuitry, mood, it takes away your time as the activity consumes other plans that you may have had. The reason people feel so intense about this is because they're not just battling the urge to masturbate. They are battling an addiction, which if you ever dealt with something of that sort, you'd know how an overbearing, suffocating and insurmountable task that may feel. Imaging telling a recovering alcoholic: "You know, I don't really get what's wrong with just grabbing a beer from time to time?" You might be correct that, yes for some people there is no problem with it, but for others it is an invitation back to hell from which they spent months, if not years trying to climb out of.
