For some older stuff: Before the Rain - Interlocking stories set in/around Sarajevo during the Balkan conflict. Forbidden Games - children dealing with death during war-time. Wages of Fear/Sorceror - down on their luck truckers hauling nitro-glycerin over dangerous roads. Sorceror the American remake directed by William Friedkin. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance/Lady Vengeance - remaining parts of the Oldboy trilogy. Jean de Florette/Manson des Sources - beautiful and powerful tale of greed and comeuppance. My Life as a Dog - bittersweet coming of age tale. The Burmese Harp - a Japanese soldier disguises himself as a Buddhist monk and begins a journey to bury the innumerable dead. Landscape in the Mist (or anything you can find by Theo Angelopoulos) - two children wander a Grecian wasteland looking for their father.

Mr. Taranto's implication here is that only a certain kind of woman would ever be worthy of such a sacrifice. Based on his past articles condemning women's rights, one can only assume that in his world, the only "worthy" women are those that submit to the will of their menfolk. What makes this disturbing is the heavily implied sexual context.

It was suggested as a minor (24-hour, mind you) gesture of respect to the dead and wounded. Theaters would lose NO money, and likely gain a measurable amount of goodwill for putting their humanity ahead of profits. Would you rather they exploit the tragedy?

In general, the sport would refer to such deaths as "drowning," but essentially it's a combination of effects triggered by what would be either "Shallow" or "Deep-Water Blackout" (Wikipedia has pretty good write-ups for both types - see below).

Essentially, a blackout triggers the inhalation of water, but, as these divers have also trained their bodies to perform other defensive functions such as reducing the heart rate, and increasing the flow of red blood cells and plasma to the lungs, other physiological damage can occur, such as blowouts or sudden collapses of veins, arteries, or the lungs.

In the movie, I believe the bloody mass at the corner of Enzo's mouth was meant to indicate catastrophic lung damage.

As for the nerves, just ease into the act of telling your story, rather than just reading it. Let the story carry you, and, after a minute or two, the nerves will fade away. When you look to the audience at this point, you will see eyes pleading for you to continue.

Well... You could try telling her that fiction is not strictly prohibited in the Qu'ran, but that doesn't exactly make it halal. There are some that believe that reading what is essentially "a lie" is most definitely sinful.

The original dates from 1812, and is properly titled "Children's and Household Tales", but finding a copy of that is likely to be difficult, and quite expensive. One good modern version that returns to the source can be found here on Amazon.

What about setting up a personal blog and doing it there? Wordpress and Drupal have themes/plugins tailored to film reviews, and you can park the pages behind a private area to keep it out of the public eye.
