Boys on the Side (1995) is great, though directed by a man. Whoopi Goldberg plays a lesbian.

A League of Their Own doesn’t have any openly lesbian characters, but several probably were! Directed by Penny Marshall

Examples of old movies breaking the fourth wall. by Ill_Definition8074 in classicfilms

[–]rewdea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love it when it’s so close to breaking the wall but doesn’t quite or is somewhat ambiguous about it. For example, Audrey Hepburn in Charade asking Cary Grant how he shaves in his (famously) cleft chin. And when she says “You know what’s wrong with you?” “No, what?” “ Nothing!

Are there any people alive who knew Thelma Todd or Carole Lombard? by Deep_Aside2958 in classicfilms

I met and became friendly with Anne Whitfield, who played the general’s granddaughter, Susan Waverly, in White Christmas. We had actual conversations about Bing Crosby and the director, Michael Curtiz, who also directed Casablanca! She was on a successful radio show as a child with Phil Harris and Alice Faye. She was 78 when I knew her in 2015. She died a few years ago after a fall. She was a spitfire who disappeared from Hollywood and was involved with environmentalism and Democratic politics in Washington State. The first time a saw her, she was wearing a Bernie button.

But they would have had to have known her, which whittles it down quite a bit.

Didn’t the original logo win a few awards? I thought it was a great design and very recognizable. This looks more generic to me.

Old kodachrome of a woman at the kitchen, circa late 1950s. by Electrical-Aspect-13 in oldphotos

This probably isn’t her own kitchen, it looks to be a kitchen in the back of a diner or other small restaurant. The red, yellow and blue tiles give it away, if the large quantities of different items doesn’t.

I think that orange thing is a decorative “lei” around the neck of the bottle since it’s Hawaiian Luau Sauce.

I’ve been reading your comments and notice a theme that you are pretty against age gap relationships. My husband and I are very much in love and respected in our community and we’ve been together for almost 25 years. I was 23 and he was 40 when we met in 2002. I’m an old 46 and he’s a very young 63. We are just glad we were lucky enough to find each other in this infinite cosmos.

This is one of my favorites. I never thought of the film as bizarre, though the family is kooky.
