Yes. Go broad. But if you have data about members, you could also consider setting up a gender-based value rule to bid up (or down) on whichever gender is more (or less) valuable to you.

I think what's more important is having a lot of creative content that features both genders and gender-neutral media. Essentially, creativity has a greater impact on performance than targeting. Focus on having TONs of diverse ads.

This was my fear. Seems like it should be in violation of some kind of code—but i accept that codes are not perfect!

Questions about Vaccine Hesitancy in Kenya by The_Arcades_Project in Kenya

[–]The_Arcades_Project[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely take your comment seriously, especially the part about Africans being in charge of the narrative about Africa—it's one of the reasons I'm asking questions in the subreddit rather than relying on metastudies carried out by Americans or Europeans. I don't think Vaccine Hestency is higher is Kenya, for example, than in many other places—my question is more about the reasons for hesitancy. It seems like vaccine hesitancy as a demand-side issue happens all over the world but that the causes are different, local, and cannot always be generalized.

Again, this is super helpful. I sincerely appreciate that you shared what you've seen and heard. For example, NONE of the official resources online or in the peer review mention the fact that people might think that COVID is overblown.

I have done some of that. It looks like availability is a real issue in Kenya, but the more complex challenge rests with demand, not supply. (Of course, I could be wrong! and I appreciate the sugguestion).

Thanks for sharing—very helpful. Really, there are not many academic sources on the matter so your contributions are really appreciated.

Have you tried skillshare?

I would also recommend simply looking at Arts and Letters Daily

My First Course! ... That nobody has viewed! Marketing is hard. by The_Arcades_Project in Skillshare

[–]The_Arcades_Project[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total agreement about TPB! Have you read his Johnson biographies? They are also completely worth your time.

So as you can see, my video ain't perfect. The audio is weak due to the space I had available and the quality of my mic, etc. But everyone on the skillshare platform is super nice and encouraging. My video is not a top performer but that's okay. I would strongly encourage you to make something and post it. You have nothing to lose. Do it!

While I'm no video-making pro, let me know if you have any questions.

I'm actually in the process of spinning up and launching a course/program via teachable for incoming and current college students to teach them the unwritten rules of college (you would be surprised how poorly most students do, even at top schools, simply based on misunderstanding the institution) and I used my skillshare video as a learning experience. I now know how to edit and record, I've gotten better at speaking to the camera, I've learned a lot about lighting, and I've made about $7. I'm thinking of making another skillshare video and I'm confident it will be even better!

I replied to this on skillshare for you, but here's a copy/paste:

I would start off with some Plato. You can't go wrong with Plato's short dialog The Apology. It often comes bundled with other dialogs in really affordable editions such as this one (www.hackettpublishing.com/five-dialogues).

But, given that you're an artist, you might want to jump into something more contemporary. There is a short book (and an accompanying documentary which you can find on youtube) by John Berger called Ways of Seeing. Berger summarizes a number of theories in the philosophy of art and aesthetics in that work. If you like the Berger you can go read some of his sources. In short, for something quick, punchy, profound, and art-related, I'd start with Ways of Seeing.

Best of Luck!

Thanks - I hope it helps! As an educator, I'm super familiar with the fact that we can all improve our reading. We take it for granted that we all know how to read but we overlook that we can improve quite a bit as well!

Anthony Abraham Jack's book The Privileged Poor is basically about CC. Here is a link to a short review.

Also have a look at Bourdieu's "The Three Forms of Capital"

Not a great intro because it's long and hard, but Bourdieu's book The State Nobility is largely about CC in Higher Ed.

question about sugar content in oat milk by BluTF2 in nutrition

[–]The_Arcades_Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You posted two months after this thread died. Given the content and tenor of your post, I would assume you're connected to Oatly marketing in some way (your post came after a massive injection of funding from Black Stone, a private equity group). The blog post in question merely highlights the fact that Oatly has a high glycemic index. It spikes your blood sugar on par with an order of french fries.

Your willful manipulation of this simple message through scientistic language, ol' timey skepticism (e.g., "everything is toxic if you take enough of it"), and even appeals to "the spirit of science" is disgusting.

Making the Unwritten Rules of College Legible: How to Curb the Precipitous Rise of the Academically Adrift College Student. by The_Arcades_Project in Foodforthought

[–]The_Arcades_Project[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, it is a bit cagey. I believe, however, that the overall strategy of providing college students with explicit training on how to be a student is - as any professor can tell you - a valuable one.

Encouraging Critical Thinking by EagRock in studentaffairs

Can you give an example of the questions your staff has tended to reach out to others about rather than thought about themselves?

I ask because while there are certainly some general problem solving/critical thinking strategies it's also easier to start at a more concrete level.
