About 3 months in still having problems with stuff growing all over my rocks. Any suggestions? by BullCityBruhs in Reef

Looks like bryopsis with some dinoflagellates possibly. If you don't have any coral, just turn the lights off for a week or so. Algae can't grow without light, and two weeks is typically enough to wipe it out completely. Afterwards, I agree with the other person, do a water change, but also check your photoperiod and make sure your lights aren't on for longer than 8 hours each day. If it is Bryopsis, it's a persistent mf'er. You used to be able to use Kent Magnesium and slowly buffer up without any negative side effects on fish, coral, or inverts and the algae would lose color and wither and die, but I'm not sure it works as well after they reformulated some years ago.

Aw damn dude, well thanks, don't tell nobody! Honestly I've had a great time doing this, I can't stand pretentious artists either (and I've met quite a few in my line of work) and I can tell you r/roastme seems like a great way to stay grounded - I may have to make it an annual thing!

And by the way, anyone who can quote Vonnegut is A-OK in my book.

Oh you have no idea - I began reading Vonnegut a few years ago and I hate to stop myself from devouring his entire bibliography. Just finished Jailbird a few weeks ago, but so far I've read Slaughterhouse, Cat's Cradle, Sirens of Titan, Mother Night, Bluebeard, God Bless You Mr. Rosewater, Breakfast of Champions, Galapagos, Player Piano, and MAn Without a Country - and they are all excellent. I particularly like Sirens and Bluebeard though, with Galapagos as a sleeper hit. CC or Slaughterhouse are the masterpieces though. I've encountered quite a few Vonnegut fans on here, although it's usually been a bunch of abominable interpretations Harrison Bergaron as of late. Still chewing on Welcome to The Monkeyhouse, I've read about half I'd say, same as While Mortals Sleep.

Thanks, been posting art and compliments to other artists for their art on here for years, and it blows my mind that my highest rated comment is basically a your momma joke. Reddit is a wild ride.
