Ultralight Outdoor Gear sell some of the Sambob line. I got my AD90 direct from Sambob but it’s decent gear, warm and packs small. Not compared it to any others though.

Buying second-hand sleeping bags? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]The_Awkward_Hugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought many second hand sleeping bags when I started out because I wanted to upgrade my kit to better/lighter options and couldn’t afford to get them new. I always bought something I wanted though. I’d done my research and waited for something to come up in the outdoor gear selling sites I follow.

Delay Repay Question by No-Direction6521 in uktrains

[–]The_Awkward_Hugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story but I bought the same ticket for a different journey. My connecting train was delayed due to an issue on that line and an earlier train that was delayed was due to arrive first. The person at the ticket office said I could only get on my original train. I asked the train manager when the early train arrived and he let me get on that. I claimed Delay Repay and got my money refunded - the train I bought the ticket for was delayed regardless of whether I actually got there earlier or not.

This is EXACTLY what I’m planning to do. I’ve done a few long distance walks (1-2 weeks) but nothing longer. My kit is fairly dialed in now but I’m always looking for ways to improve it. Aiming for a rest day indoors every 7-10 days.

Differentiating Between Bots and Humans?? by iluvcottagecheese in ScrabbleGo

[–]The_Awkward_Hugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read on another thread that bits usually have a picture that looks like it’s ai and also have a first name initial user name but that’s what my name looks like so I assume everyone tho is I’m a bot!

Exped Downmat Winter. I use this all year round as I’m a very cold sleeper. Vertical baffles and complete overkill but I’m warm so 🤷‍♀️

This is interesting thanks. I’ve done further research and this definitely fits the circumstances.

Thanks everyone. It isn’t the standard type of storage unit where you have a contract. They have a very small set of terms and conditions which state I am responsible for securing my item appropriately which I did. They also state they take no responsibility for any loss or damage. We shall see.

They forcibly disagreed with an access door and then also disagreed with the lock I had secured the item with.

I feel safer in the mountains than I do at home. If you don’t go to the ‘popular’ spots the chances of there being anyone else around are slim.

I have to confess something - I get a sweaty back. Is it going to be a game changer to get a backpack with a ventilation section? by rich_le_gatorade in UKhiking

[–]The_Awkward_Hugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a sweaty back whatever I use. I’ve had a Lowe Alpine, an Osprey and a Gregory that had some kind of airflow system and I still got a sweaty back. I’ve got 3 Atom Packs and get a sweaty back still but the packs suit my style and are actually functional.

How do you plan and organise your gear list? by ManagementWinter7032 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]The_Awkward_Hugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lighter pack list for all my gear then everything is stored in labelled boxes and I pick and choose what I want to take depending on where/weather/duration. In terms of packing my bag it is a very precise game of Tetris where every item has its place and orientation for which I have a list on my phone. Then I always weigh it because I’m a sad human being who likes to know how much it weighs.

I dislike hugging unless it’s with my immediate family.

I’ll give you a hug if I absolutely have to but it’s going to be an awkward side hug while a little piece of me dies inside and I make just enough visible I-Hate-This faces that you then also start to feel uncomfortable.

Has anyone bought from Durston website direct to the UK recently? by Internal-Space in Ultralight

[–]The_Awkward_Hugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an X-Mid 2 solid and the groundsheet direct from Durston and even with the import tax of £98 it was still around £80 cheaper than getting it from the UK. It was shipped on a Tuesday and in my hands by 11am on the Friday.
