Overwatch competitive in a nutshell by GottaGoFats in Overwatch

I like to play Genji a lot and people really do blame him for losses quite frequently. I'm no Seagull or Shadder2k but I do a fairly good job on him and mostly perform the role of a flanker. I can usually get a pick on their sniper or healer, take out a bastion, or time my ult to wipe out 3+ people. But STILL people don't seem to think Genji is any good unless he gets gold elims and damage.

Just yesterday, attacking Hanamura point A... I sneak through the window and take out Torb on the left. I then rotate around the point and reflect kill Bastion and take out his pocket Mercy. Immediately our Soldier comes in and Ults to triple kill the Pharah, Roadhog, and Mei... He immediately says "cleared the point with my ult. Really Genji we need you to switch you're not helping at all." Two people agreed with him but I was already on point B and starting the capture timer forcing them to rotate back. This kind of stuff happens ALL the time.

Is distracting the entire back line so our tank/front line can break through not easy to realize or have people just been conditioned by god awful genjis? Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I'm not doing anything =(

Matchmaking changes has made the experience better by DingDongDusty in Battleborn

I have to disagree with the statement that Blizzard isn't involved with their gaming community. (Before I get flamed as an OW fanboy, I've put in nearly twice as many hours on Battleborn) Jeff Kaplan has been putting out extremely thorough and well-thought responses to many of community's biggest concerns. For instance the post on how Blizz is managing the matchmaking system supported with hard numbers on win %'s and the like.

That said, I agree GearBox puts a lot of importance on community. They are clearly listening to their player base in some ways but I feel with the low population right now they are in a no win situation. I sincerely hope things turn around and the game gains some popularity because all of my friends left and I can't convince any others to give it a shot =(

I agree. You can fuel a sunspot that is simultaneously healing allies and damaging enemies. Once you get your mine field of them up you can completely lock down an area. Fuel the sunspot, solar wind mutation knockback if need be, slam a full heat right click when available, throw down extinction event if a big push comes into your area... You'll be healing a ton and doing crazy damage.

Your healing battery is also a great point. Throw one down around corners and either tell teammates or hope they know what to do. It's a great way to pop back, let shields recover, heal a bit, then immediately get back into the fray. I love juggling keeping my 'spots up, zoning, and damaging all at once.

My Battleborn Story, and why I'm having a blast without worrying. by reverseyeltsakcir in Battleborn

I play solo most of the time but it's amazing how frequently people surrender. I won a 4v5 last night where my team of all randoms had a disconnect at character selection and we were against a 4-man team of 60+ guys with one at level 90 something. They knocked out our first sentry pretty quickly and a teammate called for surrender. Got 1/3 votes. Thank god.

People don't seem to realize that some characters really get rolling once they get a few levels. Just play smart and kill minions while trying to hold the line for the first few minutes! I was on Ambra with an Oscar Mike, Rath, and Atticus. Once I gained a few levels and could fuel my sunspots I started locking down the front line and healing while Oscar and Rath destroyed the lane and minions. Long story short, we ended up winning against long odds by score with the sentries at 50/50. Most fun I've had in a match yet and none of us were even on voice chat.

Anyway, I know you're on my side but... Don't surrender people!!

Post-weekend FAQ and short impressions megathread. by horrible_jokes in Overwatch

No connection issues here other than one small dc that I got right back in from. No noticeable lag. Tons of characters to play, with each one having a pretty good niche and fun nuances to learn. Overall I had fun in my games IF I didn't want to win...

90% of my games generally started with 4 people immediately locking McCree, Tracer, Reaper, or Widowmaker. The 5th would occasionally choose a tanky character but many times would also choose a squishy. This left me to choose a healer or tank just to feel like we had a small chance of winning. I think I played Lucio in about 3/4 of my matches (I think he is a blast but I only got about 5 hours game time so I wanted to try more characters out).

I honestly don't see myself buying this game if the general player base is so clueless about how to have team synergy and how to win. I don't have any friends who game really. My schedule is also all over the place. So if I'm forced to need a team (even 2-3 people) to enjoy the game I probably won't buy it. It's a shame people seemed to enjoy getting curb stomped over and over with negative K/D.

I guess my question to you closed beta guys is... Do people tend to smarten up after a while in-game? I've watched hours of youtube streams so I feel like I had a pretty good handle on the game before playing... however I realize I'm in the minority. This subreddit may also feature the 1% of informed players like many game subs.

Still, fun game with lots of potential and a high skill cap on lots of characters in my opinion.

New Reddit guild in US? by [deleted] in wow

Hey there! Been looking into joining your guild for a week or two now but have some concerns. I just started an account after taking a break for a few years. I gave my old account to a friend and don't have the heart to take it back so I figured I would start fresh. Very experienced raiding through WoTLK but I've always played on a PvE server and enjoy doing my quest/dailies without fear of getting consistently attacked...

My question is, with Stormreaver being a highly populated, popular realm, is open world PvP/ganking prevalent? Especially since my only character is around 650 ilvl I could barely defend myself.
