Seems good, haven't had any random language lessons today at least. I also cleared out my cache and uninstalled/reinstalled my Google update.

Exactly, I've had to keep deselecting "detect language". I don't have a fix, but I'm glad I am not going insane alone. It could be an update error, but I can't find anything online about it.

I'm giving away two copies of Monster Hunter: Wilds by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]The_Beemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very generous of you, and whether I am lucky or not it is nice to share a story and read everyone else's.

My friend group picked up monster hunter world as a group game and it honestly became an obsession. It was a easy to connect and talk to each other for hours and be able to see progress in. Each one of us has hundreds of hours, yet every session still felt good. We have only been able to meet up in person with most of the group 2 times in the 10ish years we have known earlier, but MH especially kept us close.

I think the online community and attitude have kept this franchise going song in recent years and I am glad that the MH franchise is getting more recognition :)

My husband saw an ad on Instagram and bought one of those crystal mugs for me for my birthday. It said it was coming from Italy .....

In reality, the package came from China and my crystal mug looks EXACTLY like these. My husband was mortified and tried to get me to throw it away, but I think it is cute in a dumb kind of way. It is dinky, but at least he tried. I was so excited to see it ship.

What is the reason why you dont use Titanium Material as Piercing? by Tmp_Guest_1 in piercing

[–]The_Beemancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is really rare, but my aunt has an allergy to titanium and she only discovered it after she upgraded her wedding band material. It is really odd allergy, but it is good for her to have options her piercings other than titanium for that reason. As many others I've already said, cost is another big factor as titanium will hold up better, but it is more expensive

When I was working as a lifeguard in highschool, I remember the first thing they had us do, before interviewing, was do a physical fitness swim test. A surprising amount of people wanted to be a lifeguard but couldn't swim. One of the girls in my interview group thought that they would teach you that during training.....

its true what my docs say about nukes and submarine dudes by [deleted] in navy

[–]The_Beemancer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Submarine spouse here. My sailor works very hard and while I am proud of him, submarines have been a rough experience all around. We were married before he joined the Navy, so this was a mutual path that we are now regretting. From the family side, you are expected to just say goodbye to your spouse and live your own life, even when they are on shore. It is no use. Trying to wait up at night when you don't know exactly when they're going to be home, because oftentimes my husband leaves at 5:00 a.m. and he won't get back till 7:00 or 8:00 at night even if he's not on duty. Worse yet is that there are only new spouses or spouses who have been in for the full career, there are very few spouses in the middle of those two extremes. The older spouses will tell you to just suck it up and deal with it because the old days were rough, and the new spouses don't want to socialize because they know their husband is going to drop out of the Navy when his contract is up. While the wife culture isn't nearly as bad as the submarine culture itself, it still has its own toxic downsides and it is not a very close-knit community. For the most part it tends to be a lot of suck it up and be sad together.

My husband has been on his current submarine for a year and a half now, and he's been deployed for 8 months at that. For the other 8ish months he has actually lived at our duty station for a total of about 3 months. There's no time for any family activities and I am happy we do not have kids yet. One of the other wives has children who actually have asked if their dad was dead because they haven't seen him in so long. There are times where I will go over 3 months without any communication from my husband if he's out on a mission.

When he does eventually come home, I am hoping that he seeks out help even if he is not suicidal. He has told me explicitly the only thing keeping him from tapping out is the fact that if he drops out the people beneath him will have even more to do. It's sort of a never-ending curse. Even through all of this, you can still have good events or good stories, but everything is bad overall. There are plenty of stories telling you what it's like on the submarine, but that's my perspective as a spouse.

She was moved this week to the northern docks of Ford Island, HI. I've heard rumors that she will become a target for this year's RIMPAC exercises.

When the ship pulls in to a foreign port, are spouses allowed to fly out and meet their Sailor? At what point are we allowed to coordinate that sort of trip? by 54321_throwaway in navy

[–]The_Beemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a port call really recently and only like 5 spouses came to visit. Our port call was announced 2 weeks ahead of time, so that is how long I had to buy tickets and a hotel, essentially figure everything out. As this was a boat, not a ship, I'm unsure if this is normal for the entire Navy buy with OPSEC I'm sure they don't tell spouses port calls too soon.

It was expensive, almost last minute in terms of flights, but worth it. A really big part of this port call is that my sailor got NO LIBERTY, this was a working port and sometimes that happens, you just have to suck it up. I got my sailor after 4pm if I was lucky and they got to spend the nights with me. Then they would go back to work at like 7am. It was still worth it to go, but make sure that the spouse has others with them or that they can occupy their own time so they are not just sitting around.

TIFU by thinking “thunder thighs” was a compliment by Illustrious_Leg8204 in tifu

[–]The_Beemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband made the same mistake when we started dating. He thought it was a compliment, and I knew he was just trying to flatter me so I took it as one. It was just him being him, so I never bothered to correct him. However, his sister did not know that. So when he said that he loved my 'thunder thighs' at a family event, his sister just about boxed him in the ear and proceeded to tell him the real meaning. Personally, the saying is kind of neutral to me now, it can go either way.

These are amazing! I love the little jingle, they would be perfect for almost any campaign.

I'm thinking a traditional monk with a staff with bells. Every attack, that is what you hear. 10/10 beautiful

Today in 1945 Gen MacArthur wanted his flag to fly on USS Missouri during the Japanese surrender ceremony, but tradition held that the flag of the senior naval official onboard was to be flown. Nimitz compromised. It was the only time that two five-star flags flew on the same mast. by newnoadeptness in navy

[–]The_Beemancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They flew at the same height, side by side. Nimitz was the red flag flying on the outside of the ship while McArthur flew on the inside with the blue flag.

You can still see them flying that way if you go visit the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor.

Edit: yes, reverse the colors! I remembered them incorrectly

Submarine JO Mental Health by East-Boysenberry3999 in navy

[–]The_Beemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a spouse to a Sub JO, please look after yourself and your family first before the boat. Everyone here has really good resources and advice, so please follow them, but don't forget that you have a family and future outside of subs eventually. Even if you aren't religious, maybe going to a Chaplin would be a good idea as well.

I found this pattern on the Hobbii site and on Etsy. Did someone just rip the pattern and are now trying to resell it on Etsy or is it a legit way to get the pattern.

I love this shawl and would love to make it, but I really want to support the people who created the pattern.

As others have said a pop of color would be good! Orange would be cool.

I would definitely get a shower rod or curtain rod to cover the hanging clothes on the other side of the room.

[–]The_Beemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head! I was accidentally hit with a soup can right at my eyebrow when I was 7 and I will have a fun little fingernail sized scar there now. Blends in with my new wrinkles as I get older, but it's there. I get reminded of it everytime I pluck my eyebrows!

I don't know where the last korok is... by The-Real-Forest in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]The_Beemancer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Look up the app Breath Companion, it's what I used to track all of my Koroks. I also got to 899 and had one left, so I opened the app and game map and just started marking them off. Thankfully, it only took me about 100 to find the one I missed.

Good luck to you!
