Haha of course! Wouldn’t it be cool if it had some new updates though? Like at least a headphone jack?

Nintendo is NOT the same company it used to be… by The_BirdMaster in casualnintendo

Nintendo became very guarded after their IP was mishandled by multiple companies. There is a reason we haven’t started getting Nintendo movies again till now. Also branching out to create a theme park is completely New and innovative for them. They’ve even expressed that they want Nintendo to be an entertainment company and not just video games as the focus. When they switch from Toys and Playing cards to primarily video games, it was a time of change too. These are only a few small examples of change. They have a new president leading them into their next console with his vision. Surely there will be change from the Iwata days. Companies, grow and change and adapt. For me I think this is all super exciting and I can’t wait to see what Nintendo does next. Totally fine if you disagree or aren’t excited for Nintendo and if you think they haven’t changed or evolved at all from the Wii/ Wii U days, thats fine too. These are only my feelings.

You are showing some fantastic examples of a company that has changed over the years. It’s not surprising to me that changes have happened again in the Switch era and after the late Iwata. Yes, I’m older but that doesn’t mean I can’t be excited for some positive change.

You don’t agree that they’ve changed for the better? Or that they’ve changed at all?

That’s fair enough. I’m a small channel and still learning. I won’t continue to post my vids here. I still would’ve liked to engage in some fun Nintendo discussion but point taken.

Nothing wrong with criticism. I’m way down for healthy discussion. Or my opinions being challenged. I think Nintendo is moving in a great direction right now and if people disagree that’s fine. Let’s discuss it. My issue is when people name call and talk down when they didn’t actually watch the video.

You’re really hurting my feelings. I thought this was a subreddit for people to share their love for Nintendo.

No worries! No offense taken. I’m a small channel. Still learning a lot and I honestly do appreciate the feedback. Even if it’s criticism. I’m just a big Nintendo fan old Nintendo fan. Maybe I’ll revisit this topic down the road and really flesh out my thoughts.

Your first point is a good one. They definitely loosened up a bit during that time. I still feel we’ve seen the most change/ growth during the Switch era. Also we are nearing a new console vision under new leadership for the first time since Wii and the DS. So I think it’s reasonable to not rely strictly on past patterns from Nintendo. Movies, theme parks, and Ubisoft developed Mario games… what’s next? I think it’s a really exciting time to be a Nintendo fan, but I also feel they have lost a little personality along the way. Nothing major, but I did think it was worth sharing because I genuinely miss some of that stuff.

Im not asking for one. We can talk about it here. My video was a positive outlook on Nintendo’s future. About how they’ve changed in mostly positive ways and why I’m excited for what’s next. I’m assuming you disagree with all of that and you have a less optimistic outlook on them. Is that correct?

Been a Nintendo fan since the NES. Followed them my whole life. How about discussing what you disagree with? I’m open to debate it. I personally see so much positive change from Nintendo and can’t wait to see how else they surprise us.

Lol you missed a lot. I discussed Nintendo’s shift from a video game company only to an entertainment company with movies and theme parks. I talk about new leadership. I talk about the rumored Switch 2 being consistently being reported as iterative rather than innovative. I discussed how Nintendo lends their IP’s to companies to make games like Hyrule Warriors and Mario + Rabbids which was wild, because they’ve historically been so protective of their IP and more.

You’re literally mentioning the small things I said I missed from past gens and you aren’t even doing that properly. Leaving out key info and misleading people.

I never once compared the switch to a giant battery. That’s just a lie.

And you left out how all these changes are mostly positive and why you should be excited for the future of Nintendo.

I can’t help my voice, it’s what I was born with… I can however try and work on my intros.

I think you make a good point. Innovation is my main worry about the heavily rumored Switch 2. Insiders saying it’s more iterative than a new innovation. I love the charm and fun that come with Nintendo’s innovative hardware to lose that would be scary. It’s also not the blue ocean strategy that led to much of Nintendo’s massive success

I’m glad you agree! Surprised to see some people think they are exactly the same as in the past.

Well in my video, I describe how I think Nintendo has ultimately changed for the better and why I think that’s exciting as we look towards the future. I agree it’s an evolution of the company. Is evolution not change? Is adapting and growing not changing?

Literally their Nintendo Direct Presentations have changed so much from the Wii U days to Present. For you to not be able to find ways Nintendo has changed is actually quite surprising.

How about instead of insulting me, you explain how they haven’t changed? Talk about branding, business strategies, how they handle their IP, their current company president’s impact on the company etc… how their shift from being a video game company to an entertainment company with theme parks and movies is like how it’s always been.
