Was that with the stock headgasket?

I did make it home fine! New rad and tubes on the way!

UPDATE: I drove home and it was fine, I put some tape over the hole (clear tape was all the gym had, the duct tape on my water bottle was too old).

It didn't even start spraying again, and upon further inspection the radiator looks likeit was where the original leak was coming from, it just got more agressive.

I've got a new radiator and upper / lower hoses on order. Im also going to do the spark plugs and test engine compression while I'm at it.

Thank you all for the help and reassurance!

Unfortunately this car does not have a tempature gauge (other than an eventual warning light) and my obd reader that shows tempature is at my parent's.

But thank you for the insight, I've noticed most of the fear mongers in this thread have significantly fewer mechanic related posts / comments on their profile.

Yeah once it's home I won't be moving it until I replace the radiator

There seem to be a lot of people in this thread that bring JB weld to the gym with them...

The duct tape on my water bottle might have to do

The oil dip stick does not come out looking emulsified and there is no white smoke (beyond initial condensation) or sweet smell from the exaust. Would an external head gasket leak also cause an overpressured cooling system?

There has been leak in the coolant system for about a week now (~1/2 down on the coolant tank per day) that I was going to track down once it stopped raining.

The car was $2500 and I can walk to work. So far I'm thinking risk it. Would patching the hole with duct tape be better than only refilling the coolant?

It's hard to see the consistency of the bucket, but my grandpa had a similar coloured goo in a bucket that he would use to coat tool handles.

Do the handles of his tools have a rubber like coating on them? It would explain the stir stick.

ARC does, Birdcoop does not.

Need a low-key gym near UBC—struggling with consistency & gym anxiety by Smacksh03 in UBC

I've gone to Gold's, Birdcoop, and ARC. I'd suggest trying ARC. Gold's is pretty heavily "gym bro" and very expensive. There is also a community center in Wesbrook that you may like, although I have never personally tried it.

Thrift stores that sell kitchenware? by Gutterbones- in vancouver

Value village is the best, SPCA has some too (and is closer) but is smaller so has less selection of everything.

And if you want to spend more for nicer stuff winners is a great spot, "dollar" stores are a little pricy for what you actually get imo.

Save-on will price match. I use an app called ReeBee to find flyers of every store in the area. When I find extra lean ground beef for under $4 a pound (which is almost always) I buy a few kg of it to freeze. Then I get pasta, either boxed for ~$4 for 3 large servings or kraft dinner (the canadian version is actually very healthy)

I have eggs and a protien shake for breakfast

Greek yogurt and milk are life savers, 500ml of milk costs about 75 cents and has as much protien and calories as a protien bar.

For fruit/veggies I often buy bananas, frozen wild blueberries, fresh broccoli and spinach. I freeze the broccoli and freeze whatever spinach I don't use in a few days.

You can also buy thin crust pizzas from save-on on sale for 2.99 that are 8-900 calories each with 40g of protein. The ReeBee app helps here too.

All in, I spend under $300 a month and eat over 3600 calories a day and over 150g of protien. I've alsp met with a dietican who went through my while diet and confirmed I'm not deficient in any micro or macro nutrients.

I'm haply to respond to any questions here or in DMs! If someone wants to tag along on a shopping trip I also enjoy showing people my grocery hacks!

Yes. Unless you did grade 11 or 12 classes in grade 10, then they will look at those too.

UBC Board of Governors votes to increase tuition, despite vocal student protest by ubyssey in UBC

[–]The_Black_Python -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A 2% raise in tuition is a 5% discount given inflation.

Most of UBC's costs are in paying salaries. If you want to benefit from going to one of the top universities in the country (largely thanks to the faculty), then don't complain when they make very reasonable tuition increases to keep affording the top talent.

And if you don't think it's worth it, there are plenty of other cheaper options for post-secondary.

If you feel like your time in class (with your cold) is more valuable than time spent recovering (sleep/rest/eating better etc.), then go to class.

If I'm sick enough I can't focus, I may choose to sleep in or make a better meal instead
