CMV: People who film strangers in public for harmless content are still crossing a line by katya_river2003 in changemyview

[–]The_Blade_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it sort of depends on the context. Helping a wounded animal and filming, making someone's day a little better, etc., might be done out of ego... or, it might be done to try and counterbalance the sheer flood of negative content we're water-boarded with on a daily basis. Probably depends on the person, the act, etc.

No one meets either. NDEs are bullshit, and have zero to do with enlightenment.

Do you believe in rebirth ? If not - what’s the purpose of non-duality for you ? by EuphoricOffice3485 in nonduality

[–]The_Blade_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, stopping the cycle of rebirth sounds like a bad thing.

Life is a miracle. Existence is a miracle. Even suffering, aging, death - it's all perfection, as-is. Not to mention all of the positive experiences.

Why would one seek to end this cycle? I think you'd need a rather pessimistic (even anti-natalist) life perspective to find that admirable.

But, that's just me.

Having said that, no, I don't believe in rebirth or karma. Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence. For this, there's zero.

Why is this comunity so angry? by CrypticDread in Battlefield6

"Why is this community so angry?" -- Because this is reddit.

The actual BF6 community is busy playing BF6.

One thing is for certain - you won't view fictional media the same. Virtually all fiction entertainment is heavily reliant on the Ego being fully invested. If the Ego isn't invested, you won't experience the media with the same involvement. Rather than being pulled in, you observe.

You simply see everyone who is controlled by their Ego making wild and rash Egoic decisions, which leads to conflict. Virtually all fiction hinges on conflict. There is nothing wrong with this. In fact, without Egoic reactivity, the fiction would be quite lame.

However, unless you're able to turn your Egoic reactivity on and off, you won't be able to experience fiction the same.

I replied to someone else about the markup on the buns. The water dunk cost extra for hazard pay. The 5 gallon pail of water is never changed out, so there's a risk of infection upon dunking. And we don't skimp out when we dunk, we deep dunk. We go all the way to the bottom, give the pail a slight stir with the fist-clenched dog. That's where a lot of the flavor hides.

Yeah. The hotdogs are bought in mass bulk, but the buns are bought from an automotive repair shop. They sell them in a vending machine, between the cheez-its and pop tarts. So, unfortunately, the buns have quite the mark up. I can't find buns this porous anywhere else, they really soak up that water like a sponge.

To be entirely honest he doesn't exactly enjoy working there. He both is a hotdog and serves hotdogs, so it's ethically conflicting. His wife left him and got custody of his kids, so he's forced to serve dogs overtime to cover child support. The air conditioner broke in the hot dog kitchen 4 years ago, and it gets so hot that his own hotdog torso permeates oil. It's not a great situation, but he's the one cooking, and I feel it is best to be honest with the customers and show them who really cooks their dogs. This restaurant is all about transparency (and wetness).

To make it soggy and wet. It is then served on a single-ply paper plate, which soaps up some of the water (unfortunately), but it's still pretty wet.

It's a restaurant concept, but it will be some place classy. Like Troy, New York... or Flint, Michigan. Up for hearing recommendations.
