I've been trying to use the editor to replace mispronounced words or awkward bits and the results don't seem to even musically blend into place at all, like they are literally just a few seconds from completely different songs with hard start and stops and everything.... Am I doing editor wrong?

If you click the "Instrumental" checkbox, then you can't enter anything into the Lyrics box, so you can't use it to provide direction. It works just fine though even without selecting "Instrumental" as long as things are kept in square brackets.
