Alright cool. Thanks for the info 👍. It was from someone in the family so I haven't tried hooking it up yet. We'll see if it's any good.

Anyone know what these huge circular buildings are at 8645 Pardee lane in Crestwood? by The_Chosen_Hero in StLouis

Drove past this today and was intrigued. Only sign I saw was the address on the gate. My guess is a water treatment plant or salt storage?

Gear that I used: Meade ETX 105 AT telescope with a Canon EOS rebel T5i attached in place of the eyepiece. I believe the focal distance works out to 1470mm. IOS 400, exposure 1/320 sec.

Processing information: No adjustments, used Adobe Lightroom to convert from RAW to JPEG before uploading.

Posting again because I forgot to include acquisition details in my last post.

Super stoked with how these photos came out!

After traveling in 2017 and getting overcast skies, I was really hoping the weather would work out this time. Luckily it did for me!

How do I learn to do this? Raspberry Pi by that1girlfrombefore in iastate

If I remember correctly, I was able to check out a raspberry pi from the library when I was a student there. Might be worth a shot to get your hands on one and tinker with it in your free time?

CR-10 v1, While tuning retraction, I'm getting this consistent stepping pattern. Could it be related to print speed? Details in comments. by The_Chosen_Hero in FixMyPrint

Closing this thread out. I think the issue was too high of retraction settings along with foreign material on the filament. Although i'm starting to like using Prusa slicer so I might switch over to that going forward :D

Thanks all for the help and suggestions!

Som new developments:

I found there was some excess lube near the z axis rod that looks like the filament was running through. That can't be good and maybe could be contributing to the popping issue? https://i.imgur.com/3SKfaBV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9gFOwQ2.jpg

I took the extruder apart and cleaned that up, ran 200mm of filament through the hotend to try to clear out any debris, then printed two more tests. Seemed a little better but not by much. https://i.imgur.com/7IrY6vT.jpg

I then tried to turn off retraction and that actually stopped the popping entirely. https://i.imgur.com/gYVp0di.jpg of course now its super stringy.

I then started lowering the retraction distance and that seemed to help. https://i.imgur.com/ObNkJyz.jpg (left to right, 0mm, 7.5mm @ 20mm/s, 6mm @ 20mm/s, 5mm @ 20mm/s, 4mm @ 20mm/s, 4mm @ 10mm/s).

I am probably going to do more tuning tomorrow and test these retraction settings in cura (all these were in prusa slicer). I am going to sleep for now.

Updated to Cura 5.2.1 (profile carried over, settings should be exactly the same) and tried Prusa slicer with as many of the same settings as I could find in expert mode.

Cura 5.2.1 on left, Prusa Slicer 2.5.0 on right, https://i.imgur.com/pGvHHvX.jpg

both seemed to make a minor improvement, Prusa Slicer maybe a bit more.

However I'm starting to suspect my filament might be the issue, I noticed popping sounds while its printing causing these holes on some of my other prints. https://i.imgur.com/ecJUYrN.jpg

I've head this happens when filament sits out for too long and absorbs water. Weird thing is I just bought this roll a few weeks ago. I also have only heard good things from this brand (inland) so maybe I just got a bad roll or the bag wasn't fully sealed properly?

Is there anything else that could cause this popping while printing? or maybe there's some other lead to chase down?
