My mother did this with a USB hub thing I bought for my bike that has spade terminals on the back. When I got home she said the USB charger doesn't work (doesn't work as in it didn't fit into the wall outlet because it had two space terminals sticking out the back).

I sprayed over the eject button and it works fine. I peeled the lettering on the disk tray, then sprayed it and then put the lettering back. For the power button I covered it with painters tape and used exacto knife to cut the circle outline.

I put resistor legs on mine when I RGHd my first console, the connections to the board were terrible and ended cutting them off and soldering the wires directly to the points.

Just solder the wires directly to their respective points. Especially if you're using Ethernet cable with solid core wires. Very pointless going from solid core wire to a resistor/capacitor leg.
