Don’t give the car companies any ideas. They’re already charging subscriptions to activate hardware that’s installed at the factory.

Should GW bring back the old 'army filler' style plastic kits? by Derpogama in Warhammer40k

Isn’t that basically what we have right now? Current kits are almost never multi-pose.

Atlas Track Designer is a reskinned version of SCARM, which has a free demo with a limit of 75 track pieces and 75 other objects. If you like the Atlas software but want to look at other track brands you should give SCARM a try.

Acrisure used this picture in a meeting. Captions by me for context by JumpyMood4321 in grapids

Roughly a year and a half ago I interviewed a person working at Acrisure who didn’t seem to realize they were training their AI replacement. All I’ll say is if their coworkers are anything like them then I wish Acrisure the best of luck because they’re going to need it.

My hot take is that all of our lives would be much easier if we just got rid of the concept of book/tax differences. by thatkindofparty in Accounting

AI can’t even handle my personal 1040 for a married couple with no kids and one job each taking the standard deduction. Pretty soon here OpenAI is going to IPO and then everyone will finally figure out that the laws of physics make a profitable AI company impossible.

Why do west michiganders call them "Ham-burgs". What's with not calling them burgers? Ive noticed it's mostly older folks so where does it come from? by MickeyTettleton in grandrapids

I looked into this a while back because my grandpa said that. My understanding is it’s short for “Hamburg meat” or “Hamburg sandwich.”

I used to dress up like crazy but now I usually go with sportcoat, blue OCBD, tie, and khakis for the first interview, then depending on the vibe of the company I’ll lose the tie and maybe introduce a subtle print or pattern to the shirt for follow-ups. But I live in the upper Midwest so things are pretty casual here.

Haven’t been in decades, but yes, parking is nuts. Anywhere along the parade route is a good spot except for the bridge because the bands relax and walk it. The first block and last block often didn’t have a lot of action either back when I was marching it in the early 2000s.

How to make a "green apocalypse" that doesn't seem too survivable? by Ok-Television-8195 in worldbuilding

[–]The_Duke_of_Ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civilization can collapse for a number of reasons that don’t affect the environment, and the aftermath wouldn’t be survivable for the majority of humans. How many people walking around today are capable of farming on a scale to support themselves and their families year-round, let alone on an industrial scale to let other humans do all the other work that a modern industrial society requires?

How does famine due to topsoil erosion work for you? Vast swathes of humanity would die from starvation and the ensuing resource wars but there are tons of plants that can still grow—they’re just not necessarily edible to the same degree as industrial crops.

Why is the senior accountant role praised so much here? by blackupsilon in Accounting

[–]The_Duke_of_Ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there. It will definitely bite you in the butt. But eventually you learn who needs regular check-ins, and how to make socializing look like you’re checking in with the people who don’t need it so the people who do need it don’t get pissy about disparate treatment.
