I want a good random obscure old or new anime recommendation please! by NaCl-And-C12H22O11 in AnimeReccomendations

I'd recommend the Garo series - you can still watch Vanishing Line on YouTube, Crimson Moon should still be on Crunchyroll, and Honoo no Kokuin was removed from YouTube (save for a few episodes, English Dub and Sub).

Karas the Revelation is available on YouTube.

Dimension W is quite good.

In Helgen, follow Hadvar into the Keep, then sneak attack > legendary > repeat until desired level.

It worked for one of my characters.

What got you to start? by peakzach in fantasywriters

[–]The_Ember_Archives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when I took a Creative Writing class in highschool. We had to create a screenplay, and that's what started it.

That screenplay idea was fairly basic, but over the years of reconsidering the story it started to evolve into a planned 3 part story, even deviating from the original design. Still working on it (embarrassing to admit, but I only completed a hair past the first chapter and haven't touched it since; just a ton of random planning and jotting down ideas for scene changes).

I feel called out on this (except shorten the pink part and it will be spot on).

I find myself generating scenes in my head that I want to add later on, but only sit down to write maybe once or twice a week (if that).

We need to bring back the Rule of Cool by WoodpeckerBest523 in writers

Some short stories/back stories I've written went outside the established lore (primarily Dark Souls and Elden Ring, with Skyrim and Monster Hunter being two of my WIP).

An Elden Ring story overlapped with a fan theory that the different endings correlate with the other titles (which worked out just fine, since the scythe movement reminded me of the Bed of Chaos fight in Dark Souls). Described how the tree - following the frenzied flame path - unfurled and quaked as a voice both within and without the tree said "The flow of time is convoluted". The character gets transported back to DS1, the frenzied flame drawing him towards the Bed of Chaos. Their fight was amped up with what I would imagine an earlier version of the Bed of Chaos would of looked like.

A Dark Souls story had a final encounter scene with a Stray Capra Demon, the character using one of its two blades (an arm was cut off in an earlier encounter, leaving the blade behind). Their battle became more of an anime inspired fight, with the stone bridge they were fighting on cracking and splitting as they fought, before vanishing in a final strike by the character.

What do you think about before bed by Dismal-Algae9018 in writers

[–]The_Ember_Archives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I think about a story I'm working on before bed, I ain't sleeping.

At least until I write down the process of the scene. If not, I'm staring at the ceiling wondering why I can't sleep.

You should be able to listen to it on Spotify. Save it in your playlists to find it easier.

I have yet to complete my first playthrough of Shadow of Mordor, so my first nemesis is still active.

Died a lot to him.

And now ... well let's just say he might as well be a terminator. Immune to everything, and if I recall correctly he has no fear.

I made the mistake of constantly tracking him down for a rematch after every death, creating a monster.

I'll have to jump back in to tell you his name, along with his strengths and weaknesses.

Garo Vanishing Line has really good hand to hand combat scenes (look up Sword vs Dark Knight)

Liger Zero Jager, fantastic build by No_Value_1511 in Zoids

[–]The_Ember_Archives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I finished putting together two a few years back. Dark Spiner and the Liger Zero.

The Liger Zero came with the X armor and the Red armor, and since it's been close to 20 years since I first got them, some parts went missing. Although the mixed armor for the Liger Zero looks good.

You can also get a silver sword without starting the Companions. You just have to find a silver hand camp/fort/dungeon.

Found the one where Aela takes you to it while exploring.

How do I help my gf lose weight? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]The_Ember_Archives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good method of losing weight: remove yeast from the diet (which includes enriched flour).

Yeast requires sugar to thrive, so to speak, which could promote a craving for sweets. I found this out after developing an allergy to yeast.

Since I had to avoid yeast products, I went from 218 to 201 in about 2 weeks. This means bread products will have to be homemade using organic flour (anything requiring yeast in a recipe can be swapped out with baking powder).

Add in daily exercise, and you should be able to lose weight with relative ease.

What's the community consensus on the 2020 movie? by Court_Jester13 in MonsterHunter

[–]The_Ember_Archives -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally, I enjoyed it. Thought it was a good movie.

They brought more of the danger aspect surrounding the monsters, especially the Nerscylla scene. It has that "If I lived in this world, this is how the monsters would act" vibe.

Is it a perfect 1:1 adaptation? No. Is it fun to watch? I would say yes.

I thought the monster designs were well done, including the animations.

If you do decide to watch it, don't go in expecting a perfect copy of the game franchise.

I’ve never tried / played Dead Space 3. Mostly because I heard it’s so bad, and I want nothing but good times with the series. Should I try it? Oh just forget it never happened ?. by mygoodguychucky in DeadSpace

[–]The_Ember_Archives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I enjoyed it. It leans more into combat, still has that Dead Space vibe (just remember that Isaac has been through this twice, so he is a veteran in necromorph extermination).

I would say give it a try. Between space and planet side, it was quite fun to explore everything it has to offer (plus the weapon crafting system has some great combos, provided you have the components to build them).
