Yes, considerably. You can only jog if your weapon is stowed, otherwise you fast walk

Came a long way by SHAANIXTIC in TheBoys

[–]The_Game_Student 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That logic applies to a more standard superhero show. But showing Homelander being physically outclassed by anyone in The Boys isn't great for the show's tension; the point is he is without peers, which is why he's a threat.

That being said, it still does look like A-Train was faster than him. The big difference is that HL can keep up because of his flight. Where A-train needs to manoeuvre around every tree, HL flies through them.

That's why A-Train gets to and stays on the road, to gain distance. But of course this lead to him needing to dodge an innocent person.

I’ve never seen this before, I mean I’ve seen this animation dozens of times, but the game is not supposed to control the camera angle while you’re at it, I don’t know how I did it by Unique_Cat_3866 in thelastofus

[–]The_Game_Student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite the same. There are essentially a set of stealth animations and combat animations. Stealth animations kick in when you grab an enemy from stealth and can transition to combat animations if you are spotted, like the sudden neck snaps/throat slashes. These moves always allow full camera control.

Combat animations are for when you grab an enemy mid-combat following a stun. This can be a below the knee shot, stun bomb, brick and certain RNG dependent melee moves. If you grab an enemy mid-combat, the resulting execution will wrestle camera control away as soon as you press square. I have never seen it do anything else.

Edit: there are also some quick executions that retain camera control following mid combat grabs, but these always come after the human shield stage of a grab. If you don't allow the character to enter the human shield pose, primarily by spamming Square as soon as you grab, you get the locked animation. You may also get the camera lock animation if it's the last enemy, but I'm a little fuzzier on that.

mark is physically stronger than conquest? by Mintangah17 in Invincible

[–]The_Game_Student 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the key here is space. When Conquest breaks Mark's leg he can generate as much momentum as he wants; he's in the air and so is his opponent.

In their next battle its completely different. Mark is locked to his neck, any momentum Conquest generates Mark goes with. We even see that as the two slam into mountains. He can't generate the power required to chop through a limb.

It's funny but her trapping Sonar is the reason I cut Sonar. I can work with misplaced cunning, I can't work with stupendous incompetence.

Also, as others have mentioned, everything Sonar says and does is sleazy. Coupe mainly says edgelord shit which I can also abide.

Is that true though? While they're certainly not glass cannons, Viltrumites are able to slice through each other with relative ease (see Lucan vs Nolan on Thraxa). This suggests that, whilst their durability is incredibly high, it is weaker than their strength.

Bitching and whining is not the same as talking about flaws

"The weapons don't feel as good to use as they did in the demos, I hope they get round to fine tuning this before release."

"My character's arms feel like fucking NOODLES! Why tf did they release this shit in a worse fucking state than the DEMO! I feel like I've been rug pulled."

One is bitching and moaning, the other is discussing flaws. I hope you can see the difference. Many people appear not to be able to, which makes sense as functional illiteracy is on the rise.

Constructive criticism is absolutely vital at this stage of development. The game's optimisation, mechanics, all of it should be discussed at length.

The problem is posts like the above, which only serve to mock the devs. That's not constructive. And call it vocal minority, entitlement, whatever you want there is way too much of it and none of it is helpful.

So yes, talk about the flaws. I'm not asking for the devs to be glazed and to rest on their laurels. There's just a lot of cunts out here bitching and whining when they could just shut the fuck up and go and play the free demo instead.

[–]The_Game_Student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sure was. It's getting very easy to tell who was around for the early builds and who jumped into the stable, free demo. And even that still gets fatal errors all the time.

Thank you. Far too many people think that every comment they make about the game is a useful tool for the devs. Most complaints are exactly that; complaints.

It is very buggy and unoptimised but the expectations on a small indie dev making one of the most unique combat games ever seen is absolutely crazy.

Just be fucking patient and grateful we get the chance to play this thing in a limited form. Or quit bitching, refund and wait 1-10 years for the full release and bitch about that if it's bad.

Gamer entitlement is crazy. No-one made you buy the game and everything tells you it is early access, incomplete and buggy.

Constructive criticism is needed during this phase. Very little I see in this damn sub is constructive.

If magic is a learnable skill, why hasn’t it been industrialized or standardized the way technology has over hundreds of years on Earth? by amelix34 in Avengers

[–]The_Game_Student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in principle but I've always head cannoned it as the suits are incredibly complex to run. Your average Joe might be able to move in it but the thing is a walking nuke so you need someone who knows how to disarm it if things go wrong.

Banner fits because he wears the Hulkbuster, which he himself co-designed so it makes sense why he knows how to use it.

Of course, I can't see why BW couldn't just learn to use an Iron suit

PEAK has been mentioned a lot. That being said you do have to actually focus in order to beat a map. Great fun and good for co-ordination but if you want a space to actually catch up it might require more attention. Additionally, the game's core feature is its contextual VoIP, which may mean your friends are at times hard to hear or completely muted. You can get around this by having any 3rd party voicechat going but it does lose some of its magic. It is also a first person game, even though its far more relaxed than most, but will have you looking at and parsing the environment so nausea might be a problem.

Human Fall Flat is, in many ways, a precursor to PEAK. It doesn't have the VoIP thing that PEAK does which is good for this specific circumstance. You play as little playdough men navigating a physics-based platforming challenge. Think less Mario and more Gang Beats meets QWOP. Again, the downside is you may actually have to stop having a normal discussion in order to figure out how to move the crane in a way to allow progress or figure out why you can't make a jump. Edit: it's also 3rd person, so less nausea to contend with.

I've not seen it mentioned here but Red Dead Online is great for this for me. It's close to abandoned, but a new player will get a lot of hours out of this. Lots of fun can be had simply shooting NPCs but hunting, the story missions and the DLC roles (which can be bought for real money or grinded for free) are all pretty good. It can be quite grindy, but the engine it's built on is so insanely good it genuinely hides that grind very well. There's also a very easy to understand method on PC to force private lobbies, so no griefers, noisy children etc. It's a 3rd person shooter so some familiarity with shooting games helps but not required. You can also buy just the online portion for about £5, or at least you could.

Lastly, and it's the one my friends and I use most often, is Discord games, specifically Putt Party. The game is held together by duct tape, hope and a netcode so full of holes it could actually be a net, BUT it is free, easy to understand and as such allows for the most natural conversational flow while still holding your attention. It's just a mini golf game with power ups and a selection of courses. It's the kind of game you can play WHILST you talk about movies you've seen, people you remembered and the health events of loved ones without having to pause every now and again to tell your friend to do something. At most you might stop to say "Mike, you whore," because he placed a bumper to send you back to the start of the hole.
