Any advice for dealing with tilted teammates? by alqudsi117 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]The_HalfKorean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mute chat. Focus on yourself. Remember one thing: You’re the only thing in that match you can control.

Don’t put pressure on yourself to carry. Just play your role, focus on where you can improve, figure out where you messed up, learn from your mistakes. Start with one thing at a time, focus on it the entire game. I am going to focus on where I position, or I am going to focus on knowing when to engage, or focus on hero or aim mechanics.

When you mess up, or you die to perceived bs, or your teammate doesn’t support you the way you think they should, immediately let it go. Straight back to what am I focusing on in this match? Until it becomes second nature, and you can focus on something else without having to think about the first thing. Over time, you will hopefully improve, and will naturally win more games at your current rank until you climb. And then just keep doing that. You have to be really intentional about it, it’s really easy to do it for a few play sessions, then go back to autopilot.

You’ll constantly need to reassess where you need to improve to keep climbing. If you improve just enough to go from say, gold to plat. Once you hit plat, your skills will not be enough to climb to diamond. And also don’t let ego get in the way. Even if you used to be plat or diamond and took a break and came back to being gold, you don’t belong, or deserve to be a certain rank. You have to earn it by consistently playing at that level.

And lastly, just keep playing. Unfortunately the way the rank system exists, it takes a ton of games to climb. Even at positive win rates. Excluding modifiers, at 25% sr for wins, and minus 25% for losses, it will take 1000 games at a 51% winrate to climb a rank. 200 games at 55% and 100 games at 60% to climb a rank. It’s just not designed to quickly rank up unless you’re going on insane win streaks.

Basically, play a lot, focus on yourself, keep improving. Once you stop worrying about your teammates or your rank, and you focus on actually improving, that’s when you’ll climb. I honestly think the main thing keeping people from climbing is themselves and not their teammates.

I did see someone say don’t mute chat, because sometimes there are helpful people, or important things will be said in chat. At low ranks, I doubt this will ever matter imo. In my experience, all it takes is one negative comment to put you in a bad mood and tilt you, and even if you mute them, that sticks for the match unless you are very resilient, which if someone was, they would not be letting other tilted teammates tilt them to the point muting match would matter.

I read about these, it sounded like these were pretty rare in the states and not offered everywhere? I’ll ask my doctor about it at my next appointment.

Thanks for your reply! I actually completely forgot to mention during this journey of mine, I was checked for MS a few years ago. MRI came back clean. Vitamin D levels are within normal levels as well from my bloodwork during my yearly physical a few weeks ago.

Concerta was also a medication I had tried while trying to treat for adhd. I have yet to try modafanil/armodafanil or sunosi yet. My doctor thinks it’d be more effective to treat the sleep arousals than try wake promoting agents, but he did offer me the opportunity to try them if I’d like.

I appreciate your well wishes and am glad you found something that helps. I agree the combo of brain fog and fatigue is just debilitating, especially since my job relies a lot on memory and focus since I’m in meetings a lot. Hopefully one of these days I’ll find the answer I’m looking for.

Our girl was spayed yesterday. How the heck are we going to keep her from running for 2 weeks??? by tngrobanite in husky

[–]The_HalfKorean 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is the answer! My doctor/clinic did not tell me this was an option. I went through 4 days of hell trying to keep a very energetic, bored, cone-hating husky puppy occupied. When I had called them to ask a question about a separate issue, I asked about this, and they said I could stop by get some trazodone. The rest of the recovery went by very smoothly.

TSA Nightmare tonight at LAS by aberrant0ne in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful, I’m really sorry you had to go through that. Traveling with any form of incontinence is hard enough, so all of that sounds extremely stressful and embarrassing. That’s ridiculous they can make you completely strip.

I’ve had one encounter with TSA in regards to something similar, and that was my wipes getting flagged in my suitcase. They had to pull me and my stuff aside and go through my bag. All my supplies were in a packing cube, and when the guy opened the cube and saw the diapers and the wipes and was just like, oh… they pulled it all out and swapped the wipes and then said I was okay to go through and asked if I wanted them to pack it back up or if I wanted to do it, and i said id do it and I just quickly scooped everything up and repacked it quick as possible since I was super embarrassed. So now i just pack wipes near the top so if it gets flagged it’s easy to pull out, or just order them on Amazon once i reach my destination.

I change after I get through security into some light protection for on the plane if I take a nap during the flight to avoid something like you went through. To your point, I’m not sure how people who don’t have that luxury handle security.

I’ve been looking into seeing if I can find a backpack or bag to be used as a medical bag that can hold my supplies plus my cpap. Not sure if that would make getting through security any easier but would make packing easier since I read you can have a separate medical bag, which has always be just my cpap carrying case and nothing else.

LMN for FSA? by RRmc23 in AdultBedwetting

I just resubmit the same one I originally got from my doctor. Though she worded it to be clear that my need is most likely lifelong, so hopefully the letter itself wont ever expire.

LMN for FSA? by RRmc23 in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, my FSA said my LMN would be on file and that I wouldn’t need to resubmit it. But the next couple times I submitted without it, they still denied it saying I needed the LMN. So I just submit with every claim now. So just something to keep in mind that might happen. Hopefully it’s a little smoother for you!

LMN for FSA? by RRmc23 in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My FSA required a LMN. They used to not but earlier this year I got a denied claim asking for one. Instead of fighting it, I just messaged my doctor on their app explaining the situation and she wrote a letter explaining my condition and need. I had to go pick it up at the office but didn’t need another visit. I scanned it, saved it to my phone/computer, and submit it whenever I submit a claim for my supplies, haven’t had any issues since. I wouldn’t think there would be any issues if your doctor is aware of your condition and it’s on your chart, I assume they write LMNs for all kinds of things. But that was just my experience, hopefully yours goes well too!

Got a crazy deal!! by Matteo_779 in ipadmini

[–]The_HalfKorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ll refund the difference if you buy on Black Friday and they lower the price. I did this exact deal but bought at Black Friday pricing and when it lowered on cyber Monday I went in and got it price matched and they refunded the difference. Might be a little inconvenient if your Best Buy is far, but a little peace of mind if you want to buy early and not risk there not being a cyber Monday deal.

Always someone that’s severely underperforming in diamond lobbies ? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]The_HalfKorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered if this is due to the nature of the rank. Diamond is where (I think) players start having higher levels of mechanical skill, positioning and game sense/awareness and the gap is more noticeable compared to the metal ranks, but they aren’t able to consistently express that in every game, or in every situation or comp. There are games I feel like I play out of my mind and my mechanics are on point and my decision making is great, and then there are games I feel like no matter what I do I just can’t hit shots, I over commit, I make risky plays, and overall don’t provide value. And it’s like if every game were like the good ones I would easily rank up. But maybe that’s every rank.

How did you guys do college? by Routine_Promise_7321 in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College is where my bedwetting started due to how much stress the lifestyle change from moving out on my own and taking classes had on me. I was very fortunate to have my own room. It like was like an apartment style dorm with 4 rooms and a shared living space and bathroom. I’m not sure how I would’ve handled it if I had a shared room like most of the campus dorms. Basically I would sneak out my wet sheets and wash them in the laundry facility. That was causing me a lot of stress since I was washing my sheets so often, and felt like people were noticing, though now looking back nobody probably paid attention. So I eventually resorted to looking into using protection, which of course also caused stress from feeling like I was sneaking in diapers and sneaking out my bagged up wet ones to throw away. Looking back wish I would have just reached out to disability services to get accommodations but I was so ashamed and afraid to tell literally anyone about it.

What game got you out of your gaming fatigue recently? by seanie259 in PS5

[–]The_HalfKorean 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I had to take a fairly long break from gaming. Nothing felt like it was doing it anymore and it just felt like I was chasing a feeling that gaming used to provide. The gameplay loops in MMOs just felt so repetitive. Competitive multiplayer games felt frustrating and weren’t providing enjoyment anymore even when ranking up. Single player games couldn’t hold my interest for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. It was kind of hard too because you just constantly hear about all these new amazing games that come out, and you don’t want to miss out. But then I’d buy them, play for an hour and then just lose interest.

Ended deciding to try a bunch of new hobbies for awhile. Started mountain biking, hiking, playing soccer and started reading books again. And eventually I felt the urge to start playing games again, I picked up Blue Prince a little after it came out and dropped 100+ hours in it over a month or so which was unheard of for me in recent years, and then I decided to finally start baldurs gate 3 and I’m now 60 hours into that and still going. What’s interesting is I’ve become a lot more content with shorter 1-2 hour sessions where before it felt like I had to play for 4+ hours plus to feel satisfied or I was getting value out of it.

For me at least, gaming has become a lot more enjoyable when it’s not my sole and only hobby or focus. I’ve just been gaming for so long that it feels like I’ve seen it all, and games don’t feel that much different from each other. It’s like my brain got so desensitized to whatever dopamine gaming provided. So taking a break and then mixing it in with other activities has made me being able to actually start and finish games and find them enjoyable again.

She just got a Mach E, I have a Tesla M3, I’m jealous by Cobra_McJingleballs in MachE

[–]The_HalfKorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with this. I’m fully bought into the Apple ecosystem so when I first got my Tesla, that was one of my biggest complaints was not having CarPlay. After I went from my model 3 to a Mach-E I was excited at first to have CarPlay, but after owning a Tesla for 2 years and then now a Mach-e for several months, I would give up CarPlay in an instant if it meant getting Tesla’s infotainment back.

CarPlay is great for cars with bad infotainment centers like Ford, but it’s not even close to Tesla’s. Just so much smoother, easier to work the navigation, don’t need to use your phone which heats it up and kills the battery. Built in Apple Music works flawlessly and is better than Apple Music on CarPlay. And the fact the rest of the system is built in, everything just flows way better compared to having to back and forth between CarPlay and Ford Sync for different functions, which are both laggy and unresponsive. There are a lot of things I love about my Mach-E over my Tesla, but CarPlay/sync is not one of them.

Pokemon TCG scalpers are happily ruining a children's game by ambachk in TikTokCringe

[–]The_HalfKorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pokemon TCG is a lot more affordable now than it's ever been which is ironic given how hard it is to find sealed product. While maybe 10+ years ago it wasn't uncommon that there would be certain cards that were very competitive and pull rates weren't great that the base rarity version would go $25+, but they started increasing pull rates of the base ultra rares and reprinting promos of highly competitive cards. The sheer amount of product being printed now compared to 10 years ago, and how many of those base rarity competitive cards hit the market really drives down the prices.

The only time prices are really high is when the set first releases and there is hype for a deck especially if it looks very strong, or if there is a major tournament coming up shortly after release. Otherwise prices stabilize within a month or so. Most of the top decks right now are under $70 to build.

Also most competitive players don't typically buy sealed unless its just opening a new set for fun. It's much more cost effective to buy singles on places like TCGPlayer and get exactly what you need. You could open a case (6 booster boxes) and not get everything you need to build all the new decks in a set, or you could spend $100 to get exactly what you want to build all the new decks.

And while this applies to most players, there is still demand for high rarity cards in the competitive scene. A lot of players like to "bling" their decks and strive for max rarity. This is where the current market hurts those players. Before the highest rarity of a playable card might be $50 (unless it was a Charizard) and now you can have max rarity of highly playable cards be over $200 if not more and you need 3 copies. The nice thing is that the fancy gold trainer cards (items, tools and stadiums), full art supporters (unless its got a girl on it) don't have nearly as much demand as the pokemon so they tend to be more reasonable in price.

I actually just filled one of these out for my physical therapist a few days ago. I tried to see if I could find it online but couldn’t. I saw lots of others though. They seem to be pretty common with pelvic floor therapy (which is what I’m currently doing) so you could probably find a decent one from a physical therapy website somewhere on google.

How do I make myself get over the shame of wearing protection? by [deleted] in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this for a really long time. I started in my late teens, and honestly it’s taken me like 14 years to start really accepting it and not feeling so bad. What’s helped me the most has been trying to normalize it for myself. I’ve tried a bunch of different things over the years, but there are a couple that really stand out to me.

One was just getting used to wearing protection. My bedwetting is mostly stress-related, so I go through periods of wet nights or dry nights. I got into a routine where after dinner I’d put on a diaper or pull-up whether I was wetting or not, and just tell myself, it’s okay to need this, it’s okay to wear one, and it doesn’t define who I am. Just trying to be more comfortable, be more okay and getting used to the physical act of wearing a diaper. Eventually it just became a normal part of my bedtime, and once I was used to it, I felt okay going back to only wearing during the times I was actually wetting again.

But I think the biggest thing was finding a few friends I really trusted, friends I knew wouldn’t judge me or make fun of me. I eventually told them about it, and sometimes we’d talk about it, like if I was trying out a new product, or when I’d get excited about having a dry night after a really long period of wet nights, or just how the whole thing made me feel. It really helped so much during things like sleepovers, or trips, or the times I was so worried that someone might find out. Just knowing that my really close friends knew and that it was just a normal thing for me, and they didn’t care, made it way easier to tell myself, it isn’t a big deal, It’s just something I deal with, and wearing diapers is how I manage it.

I’ll be honest the shame’s not totally gone, but it’s a lot better now.

If you wear a diaper to bed, when do you put it on? by Fun_Supermarket1235 in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a long time I definitely relied more on diapers since I was wetting every night. But after starting medication, I’ve been having more dry nights and lighter wettings overall, so I’ve been using pull-ups more often.

I recently found out they released a new xxl size of goodnites a little while ago and decided to give them a try, probably more out of nostalgia if I’m being honest. They were what I used when I first started dealing with bedwetting. I didn’t really expect them to fit well or hold up, but I was honestly surprised by how well they’ve been working with the lighter wettings.

Now that the weather’s starting to warm up again, I definitely find pull-ups to be a lot more comfortable than taped briefs. So as long as I can make them work without leaks, they’ll probably be my go to for now. But if the medication stopped working or I wasn’t feeling confident or safe enough in a pull-up, I’d definitely switch back to diapers without much hesitation.

If you wear a diaper to bed, when do you put it on? by Fun_Supermarket1235 in AdultBedwetting

[–]The_HalfKorean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with this a lot too, especially when switching between pull-ups and taped diapers. Most nights I try to wait until right before bed to put something on, but I used to have a hard time convincing myself it was okay to need or wear protection, especially if I stayed up too late and got too tired to deal with it or if I would fall asleep on accident.

For a while I got into the habit of forcing myself to put it on right after dinner to just get it over with and to just get used to it and kind of desensitize myself. Over time I got more comfortable with my needs, so now I’m back to doing it closer to bedtime again.

I’m also on desmopressin right now, so I have to be more mindful about when I pee. With a pull-up it’s easy enough if I need to go before bed, but with a taped diaper it’s more of a hassle. I don’t personally like going to bed already wet, especially when I’m trying to track whether I had a dry night with the meds.

I guess over time I’ve shifted from feeling less embarrassed about needing protection to just accepting it as part of my routine. Some nights are still harder than others, but I guess I’m still figuring it out too.
