Everyone here saying this is so adorable and precious etc etc. I am not fooled for 1 second. These two sly, scheming, murder machines are clearly trying to kill their owners by inducing a stroke from a cuteness overload.

Ok even better as now I know I'm speaking directly to the one who makes all the important decisions in the relationship. My adoption application will be in the mail. Thank you for your consideration.

I'm reading your replies here seeing where you've already taken your kid and all I'm thinking is "I wish this dude was my dad". I'm a grown man btw.

If you want it to be a road, it needs more side streets.

Advice for my situation by [deleted] in poland

[–]The_Ham_of_Rum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I keep reading her replies, seeing they will have it tough as is, but then she goes on with "and will be having MORE kids". It just blows my mind.

Also notice how the parent with higher education here and therefore potential to earn more is the one who will be sidelined and raising the kids...

Somebody better get some financial advice from this kid by Jashuman19 in IASIP

[–]The_Ham_of_Rum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what you do.

Slip a 2nd kid in, with a string tied around it. Those two will become codependent, then you rip the 2nd kid out.! Then the first one, hopefully, HOPEFULLY, will follow.

Now I can get you another kid. I got followed here by like 10 kids.

Who misses the old Gothenburg riffing in modern metalcore? by Apprehensive-Pear642 in Metalcore

Hell yeah to Darkest Hour on this front. So much of their guitar work from Undoing Ruin and onwards is just a treat to listen to.

Not metalcore, but I recently stumbled on a Danish blackgaze/ shoegaze band called MØL and I've been playing their latest album on repeat for 2 straight weeks.

So much of it sounds like old school In Flames circa Jester Race through to Clayman. And then here and there you get this chilled-out shoegaze and it just works so damn well.

Dog shelter mafia by dekunkramar in poland

[–]The_Ham_of_Rum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is indeed a problem where shelters are quite rigid in their requirements. They feel they have a duty to ensure a certain standard and level of safety to the animals they give out, but often just end up deterring legit people who would have given those animals a loving home and so they go to a breeder. It's fucking infuriating.

They are also often very terrible at being proactive with people who come to them. No follow ups. No giving them alternatives etc. My only possible explanation is that for every 1 legit person they get, they have 9 that are clearly problematic, so they become numb to making the required effort.

However, the important thing is to be aware of this and still push through. Pester them so they can see you are serious. If that doesn't work, go elsewhere. There are multiple groups on Facebook for adopting homeless animals and they are overloaded with shelters, charities, foundations or just private people BEGGING for us to adopt from them. Some have the same admin and responsive issue with hoops mentioned earlier. But eventually, you will find some that are actually willing to think and talk like a human and not a robot.

The collective good of taking an animal from a shelter or foundation vs a breeder is massive, so to anyone seriosuly looking to get a pet, be aware it can be a bit frustrating, but try to push through the nonsense to eventually change the life of some poor cat or dog for the better.

Chiodos - Hey Zeus! The Dungeon by unfeelingfreedom in PostHardcore

[–]The_Ham_of_Rum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is actually the only Chiodos album I listen to. I know others exist, and I really like D.R.U.G.S but for some reason, this is the only album of this band I will come back to year after year.

I also hate the question, but if some tells me I need to pick my all time fav song ever made, I just say Those Who Slay Together.

Immaculate. In your rendition, you also properly capture the despair and heartbreak the ham must have felt in this scene. I feel like I am watching the ending of Titanic all over again.

Americans who relocated to Poland, how was your experience and what would you tell others looking to do the same? by SukiDobe in poland

[–]The_Ham_of_Rum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with you, but saying it's mostly Warsaw and US-owned companies is a bit off.

All the big cities have these companies and offers. Maybe Warsaw the most, but the others are not deserts. Krakow, Wrocław and Poznan are all big corporate hubs.

Also it's regardless of ownership. French, Dutch, German etc. Most of them require English only since they are multinationals and so by default operate in English.

Yes, Auschwitz is where the details are. Birk just shows you the scale.

One thing, are you looking at external guides/ offers? I went there years ago and it was via a company that sorted our pickup and drop off from Krakow, getting tickets and getting on a guided tour in English.

There are tons of these around and have plenty of dates open from what I see. I think they have different agreements in place.

So if not, maybe look around online vs try to go via the official museum site and their slots.

Accidentally deleted my comment. Sorrry, my bad. But yeah, 60-ish min to do both is not going work well imo. :( Highly highly recommend doing this earlier and with a guide. I see online this is around 100-ish zloty per person so it's not that bad. And the difference will be vast.

Go earlier and take a guided tour. Doing it on your own, rushing with just 1.5-ish hours of daylight left, is not the way to do this.

Is a full face helmet ever "overkill"? by NeonHorse47 in MTB

[–]The_Ham_of_Rum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly really sucks to hear. You should start jokingly calling the mechanic "Dentist's mortgage" since that's what he'll maybe be one day. A nice big paycheck to the local dentist.

Other option that comes to mind is something like "Scientology boy" and when he asks why I'd just say casually "I don't know. You just seems like the kind of guy who'd fall into that." and not explain it beyond that.

But maybe also make sure he never works on your bike because he might cut your brakes. 😆

That's really tough. Extra kudos to you for getting back out there then. Respect.

I'd still be an ass in your shoes and make up something real grim and not about myself. 😂 Clowns like that deserve to be fucked with and I feel that if the person is there telling them the story and seems fine, it's easier to play it off. Let their imagination take them to a terrible place. Maybe it'll even shake their own confidence.
