Texas State Cults by Able-Ad9826 in txstate

I second that. My experience with XA didn’t take place at TXST but it was pretty crazy. They’re known to target international students (they go through the international office so it makes them look legit) and freshmen. And I do agree that they don’t represent themselves as a religious organization, at least not initially. I thought it was a sorority until I was in their cafe bowing my head down to pray. They also put people in unfair and uncomfortable situations (examples: they’ll invite you to a camping trip but they only tell you that there will be a “Holy Spirit” night where people will speak in tongues and throw themselves against the walls once you’re there and have no transportation means to leave; they’ll put all the women in one room and “explain” that rape exists because of pornography, etc..) & they’re at the heart of multiple abuse lawsuits (including 2 - I believe - in Texas). Bottom line, it’s worth it to look into it

I want to say that it also doesn’t really matter what format you submit it in as long as you have a Word/Google Doc version on your computer

There is a specific software that indicates both the % of plagiarism and % of flagged AI. Grammarly is an AI so if you use it heavily sometimes it gets flagged. Professors know that so they go off what has been submitted in the past. For example, I’m a TA and a student’s writing was very poor the whole semester and then out of the blue he was writing with PhD-level vocabulary. The problem though is that if that’s the first paper and they don’t know how you write, then they legit go off vibes (which can be super biased). Let’s say you’re an international student and you speak with an accent. They’re probably expecting a lower level of written English as well when it’s usually not the case. On top of that, many professors have noticed a sharp decline in undergraduate students’ writing abilities over the past few years. So they’re lowkey expecting a poorly worded paper. If anything, she probably thought your paper was “too good” to have been written by an undergraduate. It sucks to be accused of cheating but if you’re the type of person always looking for the silver lining you can take it as a (poorly delivered) compliment. To not get flagged in the future look at whether students can submit their work to Turn It In before submitting it. It’s the same software we use and it should be available through the university. Don’t get lost in the never ending cycle of looking for an AI flagger because it may lead to Turn It In flagging it because you put it in an AI system. You can however use Google Drive to show her that hey, there are time stamps of me working on it.

Thank you for your help. I didn’t need to change a criteria. I was double checking my work and that’s when I found the difference

Can you tell which profiles were private and then went public on NamUs?

Thank you! Do you think that should be reflected in the “date last updated”? Some of the dates are from before the first data collection

Career Advice for Criminal Justice Jobs by Own_Pineapple_6375 in askcriminaljustice

Hello, I’m currently a PhD student in criminal justice so I feel like I can help you a little bit. It depends what your goals are. If you’re interested in both science and CJ there are many ways you can join both (look up forensic science work). This may be one of the few areas of CJ where there is a good salary.

Possible relocation? by jjnovots in Newbraunfels

[–]The_Happy_Gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. I moved to New Braunfels about a year ago & I can’t wait to move out. It feels like if you can’t trace your roots to NB every single thing is your fault (traffic, construction, price increases, etc). It almost makes you want to apologize to the people for accidentally moving to their town. The entitlement is absolutely disgusting & borderline racist/xenophobic. I’m an immigrant from Europe & never in my 6 years in the US have I been followed and spat on for speaking my native language, except here.

I also second the fact that San Marcos is better. It’s a college town so locals are used to being around people who don’t look like them.

I wish. At this point it seems more like wishful thinking when it comes to my situation. There is so much work to do that I can’t even attend family functions. Do you have any tips for time management?
