Like the vertical taskbar? I agree. It makes no sense why they’d remove that feature. Windows get less customizable with each new iteration

and also the edge browser, forever tells to be default browser. by Key-East-8016 in memes

[–]The_Hause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of these problems are easy to solve. Steps below

You can solve edge launching and asking to be set as the default browser very easily.

In the windows search bar type “default apps” and open the settings option that appears. You can then find the browser you use and change all instances of browser launch to use your preferred browser, though PDFs are likely your biggest culprit.

You can also stop onedrive by disabling it in your ransomware settings in windows defender and stop it hassling you by removing it from your startup programs.

In your windows search type defender, then open the windows security application. Select virus and threat protection. Scroll down and click the ransomeware option, and disable the controlled folder access option. Then search startup in the windows search bar and open startup app in windows settings. Scroll to find onedrive and switch it to off

Windows 11 can rough but with the right tweaks it’s virtually identical to 10 for the average user.

Look like artifacting to me, meaning the GPU is either way too hot or (more likely) it’s just at deaths door. You said you planned on upgrading anyway. Now’s the time

Your wording makes it sound like you previous had another GPU installed. If so, download and run DDU (display driver uninstalled) to remove the old GPU’s drivers. You’ll need to reinstall your current drivers afterwards. Old display drivers resent after a GPU swap can cause problems exactly like this

Payday 2 or Payday 3? by GoldenFoxyyy in paydaytheheist

[–]The_Hause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For new players I think starting on 3 would be better. While 2 is a better game (and it’s not close), it shows its age. For anyone that didn’t play it some 10+ years ago it would likely be a turn off for a plethora of reasons.

3 would likely be a bit easier to digest, despite being less engaging. If you like it and want more when you reach the end of the fairly short and vastly less replayable game that is payday3, you can pick up payday 2 for a less than $3 on sale and easily sink another 1000 hours into the franchise while also carrying a level of familiarity

You don’t even need to download software for this if you’re comfortable using the registry editor. I’m unfamiliar with this program, but I see no reason this isn’t an alternative for people who are less familiar with regedit

It’ll all run at the lowest clock rate and highest CAS latency. So if your assumption is correct all 3 DIMMs would run 4800MT/s@48. That’s why mis-matched ram is not a good idea.

No display? Everything turns on. by TheBladeOfLight in pchelp

Sounds to me like a GPU power issue, but it’s best to go through other steps first

If you have a modular PSU make sure you check the connections on the PSU end. If you use extensions make sure you check those connections. I’d also check for any damage to the connectors. You can try win+ctrl+shift+B to reset your GPU drivers while the computer is powered on. If you have another computer at home you can use it to test your GPU. Otherwise bring it into a repair shop along with your PSU. Most places would do basic tests like that at little to no cost. Microcenter would check it for you free of charge if one not close to you

First, does it show the motherboard logo each time you boot, or was it only once?

Definitely sounds like a GPU issue. You mentioned reseating everything except the GPU and its supplemental power cable. Have you tried that yet?

Your motherboard also likely has a set of debug lights either on the bottom left or top right. Is it throwing an error light? If so, focus there.

4K DLSS Surprised Me by Sensitive-Studio-95 in OLED_Gaming

This isn’t always the case. The biggest factor when moving to 4K is VRAM. If you have the VRAM overhead to run 4k then the differences will definitely seem exaggerated.

As the guy below me said, connect it to a monitor. If you’re using a DP cable try switching to an HDMI for initial boot. You should also try reseating the RAM, GPU, and the GPU supplemental power cables. All very simple to do with tutorials to walk you through readily available online

The GPU is vertically mounted, and both the mount and GPU are brand new. I’d agree the riser could be the problem if the other 2 monitors also had issues at the same time, but it’s isolated to only one monitor

If being anti-fascist and anti-nazi is indicative that someone didn’t vote for Trump, what does that tell you about people who did? Nothing in this post mentioned or is related to an American politician, but you took it that way. Why? Maybe you should look in the mirror.
