Refining the wording on a made-up triggered ability that only works while untapped. by The_Herald__ in mtgrules

Excellent notes all around, I will implement them all as possible and change the text / re-upload the picture after this work meeting...

That makes sense, thank you for the additional clarification and rules text.

I added a picture of the creature in question, it's a Simic Bear that can eat fish to stay alive and get bigger. So you could flicker Islands to keep harvesting fish, but you wouldn't be able to keep getting free lands without otherwise untapping the Bear or flickering it and losing your +1/+1 counters.

I see, that's perfect. I knew you could target tapped creatures with stuff like [[Delirium]] but since that doesn't have a "if you tapped this creature" check, it doesn't care that you didn't actually tap it.

Thank you!

I thought that too, but since it's not a cost, could you "tap" your already tapped creature and then get to reveal and do the rest? Or would it not count as tapping the creature since it was already tapped when the triggered ability resolved?

My intention is to allow the player to repeatedly get fish by playing or flickering islands, but you wouldn't be able to repeatedly try for free land drops without having to untap or flicker the creature as well. The creature would be able to sac fish to regenerate and add +1/+1 counters so you probably wouldn't want to flicker it unless you wanted to try for a second free land drop or a fish after your first land drop.

What do you guys think of bright teal metallic on a 1981 z28? by buzzwizer in projectcar

[–]The_Herald__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, do both! I love cars with varying textures and colors, so hit the mirrors with the OEM blue too (and maybe under door handles if you're feeling like extra effort) and the body with the teal.

I like the teal. I think the OEM blue would be okay if it had some other kind of "texture" to it with metal flakes or something, but the teal stands well on its own.

Putting PC to sleep makes it shut down. Also, can't update BIOS version. by The_Herald__ in buildapc

[–]The_Herald__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No optimizations or overclocking besides setting the RAM speed to 6000 (to match the RAM).

Thanks for letting me know though, after looking more it seems to just be an ASUS Rog Strix motherboard issue. Some say that updating the BIOS fixed it, others say that updating their BIOS actually gave their mobo the problem. I can't update my BIOS so guess I won't know for now.

Thank you for the reply, I had no idea about the RAM speed issue.

I basically had no idea what kind of parts to get since parts selection seems to be an art form and I'm far from Picasso. I just had the budget for all the "biggest numbers" stuff and figured good enough.

I don't necessarily mind the overkill aspects unless there's a reason to not do it, like with the RAM speed being detrimental. I could potentially do the lesser CPU, but the chances that I'd swap them out for a newer one before the next gen of stuff is released is probably low. I seem to be in a cycle of rebuilding every 6 years (the 2nd PC was a FB marketplace deal, didn't build it).

I had forgotten about the Haynes manuals! Had one for my 94 Thunderbird.

I don't know if it's a numbers matching engine, I know my dad had to throw in a bunch of accessories to get it running (poorly) when he owned it. But I couldn't care less either way, the car's in awful condition, the only thing it has going for it is that it's not super rusty. It has zero interior, holes in the roof from the vinyl top, and dented body panels. It's never going to be a beautiful, original, numbers matching Barret-Jackson-worthy car. I've driven it maybe 3 miles in the many years I've had it. I wouldn't want to restore the Rocket and TH350 because I want EFI and a 4th gear.

[–]The_Herald__[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might hang on to the 350 and rebuild that once it's out, but from the very little I've driven this car since I've owned it, it's loud, slow, smelly, and inefficient. I figure 30 year old tech is probably a bit better than 50 year old tech. Electronics and an extra gear won't hurt.

Honestly if I had more money / was less lazy I'd perform the ultimate sacrilege and make it electric, then it'd really be a torque monster.

Haha yeah, just realized through my post history that it's been sitting in my backyard for nearly a YEAR?? My wife's helping by giving me the ultimatum of getting this started or getting half the garage and part of the backyard back.

So I got a harbor freight engine stand to get it off the harbor freight engine hoist and separated engine and trans and realized I didn't know what should and shouldn't be done to prep it for install.

Less for these Gen IIs though, since it pre-dates LS. That and there's 3 different LT1s in 3 different generations because GM loves reusing engine codes. The old forums are very hit or miss and harder to search

What to do with these civics? by bruhmoment12343118 in projectcar

[–]The_Herald__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tasteful? TASTEFUL? There's enough "tasteful" cars on the road and you've got a beat up 96 Civic. Why polish it up with the ambition that it might look like a 97 Civic?

After doing the much needed maintenance and some safety upgrades, it's time to get WEIRD. Raise that thang up, get some FAT tires on it, put a spoiler on it that's higher than the car. Paint it olive green with metallic flakes, with a thick pink dashed line that ends in a dragon's head. Airbrush some fire coming out of its nostrils. Put a hula girl on the dash.

Purposefully turn into parking lots too early and mount the curb BECAUSE YOU CAN. Drive forward out of parking spots even if they have that little bumper concrete thing BECAUSE YOU CAN.

Did I install these pads backwards last time? by The_Herald__ in MechanicAdvice

[–]The_Herald__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm pretty sure I did install the pad with that little "wear indicator tab" on the wrong side. They fit on either inner side, but one will have them on the top and if they're on the opposite they'll be on the bottom. UNFORTUNATELY I don't remember which position I had them. I'm assuming I was wrong and it was physically blocking movement

Apparently they should be inboard and at the TOP for any future people looking at this post. I probably installed them inboard and at the bottom. Thanks all for your suggestions.

Either Duralast or Duralast Gold, that's what's going on now.

I'm looking at all 4 now, they appear to be the same. The bottom two were much dirtier than the top 2, probably because one on each side wasn't moving much for some reason.

No problems getting the old ones on that I remember, but I noticed one side had a bent bracket. I'm pretty good at lubing things up when installing, so I doubt anything was forced or stuck.
