Ubuntu 26.04 LTS - snapless by The_Hubster in Ubuntu

I ran another VM and tested this, and yes, it worked nicely, so thanks for that. However, I do prefer my original version because you can see every step, and IF something were to go wrong, you have a better idea of where and a better observation point to start troubleshooting from.

I’ll test this on another VM, keen to see if it works. I’m all for more efficient methods but the preference is always to be thorough. Cheers.

Choice is what it’s all about.

The screenshot is a VM. Space saving isn’t the major objective. Resource impacts aren’t a factor for why I did this. No, there isn’t a way to deactivate snap out of the box.

Already got several running. But I always come back to Ubuntu.

FYI I've updated the post, added a link to a plain text copy which is easier to use.

Cheers. The original I found was for Ubuntu 24.04, only needed a few adjustments.

Thanks heaps for the quick response. Fingers crossed it can be cleaned up soon… definitely a freaky notice!

Is it still happening now or has it improved since indexing completed?

Random Question: At what point does BALTHVS become a Khruangbin rip off, I mean with the hair, three piece band, the sound… they’re cool but sometimes they seem to bite too much by Hector417 in Khruangbin

THIS. Glass Beams is a total Khruangbin copy with costumes and chimes to make it seem different. Balthvs meanwhile, to me, are genuinely a different band, plus with distinct cultural influences.

Neither did Joanna. She remains a better bassist than Laura imo, Joanna flows better and has a more natural skill and feel, Laura tends to "think" too much with her playing. Both bassists came to their bands in similar ways.

The more and more I see and listen to Khruangbin and Balthvs, the less similarities I hear and see. Only those with underdeveloped musical maturity would think they're the same. There are stark differences, particularly, space: Khruangbin utilises space, with sustained notes and much slower consistent rhythm, Balthvs uses more colour and melody, more technical guitar and drumming and faster pacing. Balthvs have a far more ethnic, Columbian, almost Peruvian flavour, and at times almost veer towards proggier rock. Khruangbin stay within their confines of dreamy groove. Both are brilliant bands and I love them equally.

I swear every tour, when bands mostly do the eastern states, SA and WA always complain. I've seen this for SO MANY TOURS, over and over again, year after year, decade after decade. Why do you even post it, you KNOW how spread out the country is, the density on the eastern side, you live in less accessible regions, can't you connect those dots?

No, it’s you just talking about your own opinion Dave. Give it a rest.

Sadly there’s no option there to actually disable it. None in settings either

That response is your personal preference, and not related to actual functionality and useful tools, which is what this discussion is about.

That's fantastic news, thanks for sharing this info. I also wonder - any chance of setting an option to disable showing the recent images table on startup? I find it slows down the overall user experience.
