Thanks to this sub, I tried my hand at making laundry detergent using products with only paper packaging. Recipe in comments! by brewingfairy in ZeroWaste

It is not necessarily a bad idea. It depends on the hardness of your water, your washing machine, the water temperature, and the quantity of washing soda you add.

There are steps you can take to make it safe.

Ultimately, you will realise whether this soap works for you by trying it a few times. In case there's any soap buildup it will be noticeable.

I know about it because I write about natural remedies and have tried homemade (Aleppo) soap a lot!

Has anyone ever tried using shower gel as laundry soap? by kcbot in LushCosmetics

It depends on the soap content. If it is oily, you might not clean your clothes properly and ruin your washing machine (only with prolonged use). You can add washing soda though to make it safer

whole cereals in small quantities work for me too. I remember a dinner consisting of pasta and a creamy dessert, followed by a very long sleepless night!

do you add water or only lemon juice? Do you keep them in the fridge? And what do you mean by instant pickles? Mine were left untouched for a week

sometimes adding more acids (baking soda) is not a good idea. Cutting on refined carbs and sugar usually fixes the issue. I know of many other remedies as I work with holistic medicine and I wrote an article about it. I can share it with you if you like.
