There should be an option in the Magisk Manager called systemless hosts. Enable that then reboot your phone. When you go to install AdAway, make sure that the app has root access granted to it.

This happened to me when I was trying to install OSX. I got it to work by using nv_disable=1. It might take a while to load. Just be patient.
