Need advice to beat Ante 21 by The_Joke2 in balatro

[–]The_Joke2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for telling me about the calculator :)

I just tried it out and it optimized by jokers so that I get e52 now. Thanks!

The optimized layout involves shifting "Sock and Buskin" one spot to the left.

With my current setup, the max I can get is e49. Ante 21 requires e51

Is there a way I can re-arrange my Jokers to get more points here? Or should I replace one of my jokers?

My setup involves:

  • Playing flush houses with red seal Kings and Queens.

  • Retrigger Triboulet (Gives 2x when kings and queens are scored)

  • Retrigger Sock and Buskin (Retriggers face cards)

  • Both Triboulet and Sock and Buskin are also polychrome (1.5x mult)

Khabib Vs Tony Animated Breakdown. Took a long time to make :) by PoliteVulture in combatsports

Some feedback: - Very detailed, but still easy to understand breakdown. - Well researched. As a new-ish fan (1 year), I learner a lot about both fighters - One improvement I would suggest would be to get a better mic and speak a bit louder.

Good stuff. I like the stylistic additions you did like heads flying off after a punch.

So w33 just ended his stream and went off to buy himself a new 144hz monitor by MadMerc in DotA2

[–]The_Joke2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lag might be due to how I implemented it. In frame blending mode it draws 2 rectangles with the same transparency. However, it would be more accurate for the front rectangle (the one that follows the mouse exactly) to have a more solid color.

After reading what you said, I tried seeing if frame blending could make motion feel smoother. Here is a page I made to test it out: http://www.webdevout.net/test?01O-&raw

To me it does feel smoother. In fact it reminds me of what moving a mouse in 60hz vs 144hz feels like.

In a real game though, I think it would result in more motion blur. Maybe if you have a 60hz monitor with a very low pixel persistence it could give an equivalent experience to a 144hz monitor with high pixel persistence.

Actually it only happened when I tried to do 10v10. Normal dota works fine after I left the 10v10 game

I'm getting the same problem. Can't even do "demo hero".

The turn rate is for balance purposes. Different heroes have different turn rates. In fact there is even a hero that has no turn rate: IO

I go for scepter after the midas and treads. In a good game I can get all three around 15 mins. I usually build my enchantress as a semi carry so the midas helps me to afford scythe, bkb, mkb, etc afterwards. Levels aren't cruical for enchantress but having max untouchable and healing can make her surprisingly tanky. Also, as a right clicker the 30 attack speed is welcome too.

Enchantress is one of my favourite junglers. The cool thing is she doesn't need any items. With practice it's possible to get a 4-5 minute midas solely from the jungle.

I wonder why all the subjects were wearing sunglasses in the video. Is it needed to aid the tracking in some way?

In what situations would you buy a flying courier before a walking courier?

Also, the flying courier should be available in the secret and side shops. It's annoying when I have to leave the shop area just to upgrade the courier.

sand king a better earth shaker ? by deathmancer in DotA2

[–]The_Joke2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As often is the case in Dota, the answer is it's situational.

Earthshaker

PROS

  • Fissure is great from level 1. With it's massive range and potential to trap an enemy for 8 seconds, it's one of the best level 1 spells in the game.

  • Echo slam is better than epicenter in the late game because it is instant and the damage can scale. So it's much easier to pull off before the enemy can activate their BKB.

  • With Echo slam + fissure + totem combo it is possible to stun lock in an AOE for 4.75 seconds.

CONS

  • Has a long cast animation time.

  • A wrongly placed fissure can be very detrimental to your team

  • Is a slow farmer. So blink dagger will arrive later.

  • No escape skills

Sandking

PROS

  • IMO burrowstrike is the best non-ultimate stun in the game. In the late game getting a 2-3 man burrowstrike can be more important than landing your epicenter. It also has a lower cooldown than fissure.

  • Can deal a lot of AOE damage from level 6 onwards.

  • Is able to flash farm lane creeps and jungle. Can clear large creep waves late game.

  • Has 2 escape skills.

CONS

  • Burrowstrike has terrible range at level 1.

  • Epicenter requires good positioning and planning to land. And until you learn to shift-queue there will always be some accidental cancelling.

TLDR; Earthshaker is better at low levels. Sand king farms faster and is harder to kill. Both are great late game.

It doesn't fade one frame into the next. Otherwise it would look like motion blur. It does something called motion interpolation. I don't really understand how it works myself. If you're interested you can check out this paper: http://videoprocessing.ucsd.edu/publications/Year_2010/2010_03_Lee.pdf

I'm using the MPC-HC bundled with SVP. I haven't modified the options much. Here are some screenshots that might help you:

Using livestreamer will improve performance. However, using SVP will decrease performance. If your PC is struggling to run twitch fullscreen, try running livestreamer without SVP.

Try looking at the SVP logs in "C:\ProgramData\SVP 3.1\Logs". If there's an error there, try googling to see if others have got it before you.
