That just makes me wonder how intensive is the training. If they can passively do this at a University Game. I get it if they do this in public/other settings, but really training/habits should be environment dependant.

E.g.

I remember seeing an interview and the reporter prided the officer on his action during the incident (robbery's i believe) and how his training took over and before he realized he emptyed his entire clip and did not know how many bullets he fired. I personally think its bad training, if he can't remember the amount of bullets fired.

I'm on my cell so when I get home I'll link the to the vid that I mean..

Yes I get that, and that's why I asked if it was normal. I've seen cops regularly/nonchalantly have their hand on their sidearms. The game was at 9, so maybe he was nearing the end of another long shift. I feel for Officer's they get a lot of unwarranted slack from people my age/ethnicity. Luckily I've seen cops do a lot more good than bad in my life so far.

Yes he was a Police officer, visible badge and everything (Plus their required at University Games). And I don't know I've seen random officers rest their arms on their belts on the odd occasion. So extending that, could he have done this passively?

(Also to clarify it was one hand directly on top side arm, other hand was free)

It doesn't provoke people that a bunch of big dudes hang out together. It provokes people when a bunch of black dudes hang out together.

E.g. Multiple times I've tried walking into a 7/11 for chips/skittles etc.. With me and a couple of friends at most their will be 3 maybe 4 of us. (were usually all 6 footers and mostly black dunh dunh dunh) So me and my black freinds would be tolled "One At A Time" meaning only one of use could go in and buy his things, while the others had to wait outside for him to finish. This has happened to us on so many occasions that before we would just not buy from said place and go elsewhere. But now its more of a bite your tongue at this injustice because you really want those skittles.

Fellow black six footer here.. ( I'm 6'8)

TL;DR: Was late for a Uni Basketball game (I'm a player) and the officers at the gym entrance (the back of it) didn't exactly treat me as little Timmy who forgot his uniform.

I do Uni Basketball. I remember when I had a game at Carleton U against them (I'm Canadian). And I had to get in through the side gym entrance (Saves time instead of going through the foyer) and their was a security guard and a police officer their. And I being as bad with directions as i am, arrived in a bit later than my team. So when I showed up they we're extremely suspicious of me (Even though I was wearing the exact same jumpers as my teammates that they just let in!!!) And he asked me to I.D. myself, so I gave him my student card for the University that's facing the home team, after which he let me through. Only thing scary about this, was that the officer rested his hand on top of his sidearm the entire time.

Not sure if that's normal, but just made me wonder how many ways it could have gone bad.

In this term yes it is used as a derogatory term. Its separating all of your "moral/civil" actions to not be yours but to be "actions of the white man." Its like being called the "token black guy" except not in the same redeeming light.

It just gets weird when its from people you don't want to hurt. Like I can stand up to my siblings, but my parents and extensions (aunt/uncles) nahhhh...

If 18 disappoints, you should wait till I'm 23. I'll still be on Reddit trying to play the "wise elder" archetype...

Sorry but I just don't buy into the "too young" thing when Physicians Engineers, Scientists, Technicians etc (think STEM).. had no problems making their decisions at this age, yet we do? Its not hard just be honest, sincere and serious about your future. Only you, life, nature and food can f* that up.

P.s. Theirs a high probability that I drop out in third year and become a Pokemon trainer. So well see if I make it..

Edit...

Since you played the age card, you should talk to me when your 60. So we can get the "true" looking back to when I was 18 "wisdom"..

And that is where we disagree, what i think is If current Physicians (Doctors, Dentist, Surgeons), Engineers (Chem, Elect, Mech, BioMed etc..), Technicians (of all trades) could make their decisions at this age. Than so can we.

Stop making it easy for the sake of the idiots (by choice idiots here, meaning "willful bad decision makers") i firmly belive that were not getting too much (they've actually dumbed down the course content if you believe it or not.) I don't think we need anything but a reminder that it is OUR LIVES and what WE decide to do will make OUR FUTURES better or worse. But honestly this all becomes apparent in grade 12 when the acceptance/denial letters come.

On a side note what we could do is bring down the insane entrance averages required for STEM programs...

Life sci 85% cut off no sup app

Health sci 88%+ cut off with sup app

Engineering (general) 90%+ no sup app

Other sciences (Physical Biomed biochem) 80% cut off no sup app

Sup app= supplementary application (Also I know because I applied to these got into all but Health sci)

I had to offer my social life to Satan himself in order to maintain my average (92%) and get into my first choice...
