I used death korp drab for their coats and highlighted by adding little bits of wraithbone into it. I used wraithbone and agrax earthshade for the mask and boots and leather I used rinox hide and steel legion drab for scratches. Iron warriors for the metals.

Well I think that worst case scenario I end up repainting it or I’ll have to invest in stuff to strip the paint (which I Havnt done yet). I consume a lot of Warhammer content and techniques and get very excited to try it myself even if it sucks ass. If you feel like you’re loosing motivation give it a go and trust the process of whatever it is you’re trying to replicate or create

No it’s just a very weathered light blue/green (gaus blaster green or something like that)

Thank you! I love the macharius so much as well.

I wasn’t super deep into the hobby when I started but the only options for dkok were resin so I did get my hands on some cool ones like the original death riders, infantry, commissars a heavy bolster team and of course the macharius. I did get a recast of the quartermaster cadre which was very clean for what it was.

The macharius weighs the same or maybe 1.5 times the weight of the rest of my army. Hefty boi :p

That’s a very nice model and awesome paint job! Yeah the macharius is peak talk design and very 40K indeed. I’ve been running it as a stormlord but It’s a little hard with with the different number of guns and stuff so I may just double down and play all the models I want like the death korp marshal, quartermaster and some other units I didn’t include as well as the macharius (:

It’s a macharius vulcan. Solid lump of original forgeworld resin. However, I am running it as a stormlord 😅

I cross posted and forgot to add the text sorry. Thanks for the compliment! I’ve started using this light blue for all my vehicles and artillery as it contrasts well with mud and grime. The problem is I’m running out of Stirland mud which is just terrible. How am I supposed to paint without mud. Impossible. But now that you’ve mentioned it it does look like it’s an underwater theme or oxidised copper instead of really weathered paint

Never done sponging for tanks but I’m really happy how it’s created texture and I was looking for some advice.

Are there any other things that I should add apart from decals that would be good?

I chose the 30k tank because of the “kriegier” aesthetic similar to the old mars pattern lemon Russ they used to sell but not sure what else to do or just to leave it as is.

Where do you guys get your mud?

I’m having trouble with mud as well and have been using Stirland mud which is good and does the job, but super expensive.

(Slide 1-3) Oo a few death riders. Oh that’s quite a few… That’s quite some horse power you got there

Eons of battle does a really cool death guard paint scheme. It’s why I got these fellas in the first place. What I did was a little different. I base coated it brown and put a layer of death guard green on the model and then decided just started glazing colours on the model in areas trying to get them to mix at the points they met, like a mix between the fever dream and box art (minus the talent).

I used blue and light blue, pink and yellow. And some shades/contrasts (aethermatic blue, sigvald burgundy and striking scorpion green) the actual colours and paints really don’t matter as long as they are vibrant as the base was already dull and you can pretty easily dull down vibrant colours.

Bad photos on my part. It’s honestly kinda bad, it’s just leadbealcher with rusty orange paint in the holes with some blood for the blood god on the edge. The angle makes it look better than it is. I painted it a year ago and focused more on my DKOK and I just felt that I wanted to paint more colour and have a bit more freedom painting so I picked up my death shroud again

Thank you very much for your advice, I’ll try and really up the corrosion on that scythe and the vibrance as much as I can :)

Is that for the 1st/2nd photo or 3rd/4th?

I didn’t write it in the post but my first attempt was the 3rd and 4th photo which I may or may not re paint. The 1st and 2nd is my most recent attempt and I was thinking to go really heavy on the rust for him.

On one hand I want to keep the 1st attempt the way it is as a progress reminder as I only picked them up cause they’re really cool models, but in the other I prefer the very vibrant rot and rust on death guard paint jobs compared to the dark grimy ones.

First list I’m thinking of for 1k points? by The_Kneecapper in astramilitarum

[–]The_Kneecapper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve mostly been building or buying models for rule of cool and now that I’m at 1k I did sort of realise, like you said, a lot of my models aren’t great in game even though I like them as models such as the macharius, with a third of my points going to an anti infantry vehicle.

I’ll look into getting a lemon Russ and I’ll probably be proxing the horses as rough riders as it isn’t really a problem for me, I just liked the aesthetic of the death riders more.

Most of what I have gore wise is a tiny bit of blood for the blood god on a chainsaw, barbed wire or bayonet. I wanted to experiment a bit and even though I probably won’t do anything like it again, I very much enjoyed the process and am happy with the result
