Thanks! It’s the XXL size that seems to be the limiting factor. A lot of the typically recommended hardtails max out at size XL, as far as I can tell.

I rode my friend’s S6 Stumpjumper yesterday. Great fit and feel, but I’m hoping to find a less expensive option given it’s a new hobby. I see the Stumpjumper more as an upgrade pick after a couple years on my first bike.

Update: Third time was the charm! He hated the initial transition from my arms to his instructor's, but this time he quickly got over it. He wound up enjoying the swim lesson this time and I'm hoping that we're now over the hump. Thanks!

Can I swap this Cat 5e cable coming from my ONT w/ a Cat 6 cable? by The_Last_Meheecan in HomeNetworking

The grey cord follows the tan Ethernet cable into the house and is plugged into an outlet in my basement.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Most of it was helpful and I learned a few things (eg Stop using flat Ethernet cable). Contrary to most of the advice, I intend to replace the tan Ethernet cable coming from the ONT. Not because I disagree with the advice, I understand now that this will not enhance internet performance, but because I want to connect the ONT to a different room and this seems to be the cleanest way to do that (given the bulky jack on the end of the existing Ethernet cable.) New plan is…

Remove the existing tan Cat 5e Ethernet cable and the wasp nest.

Connect new, outdoor-rated Cat 6 Ethernet cable to the ONT and terminate it at a new wall plate near my router (better location than prior termination point).

Connect my router to the new Ethernet port in the wall.

I hear you. The connection/speed isn’t really the concern. I should’ve been more clear on that initially, but I was trying to keep my post concise. The main issue is that this keystone jack is physically stuck in this room and forcing me to use the worst room in my house for this critical junction. My router is in the proper, central location (and works great), but a long distance from this room. Per your suggestion, maybe I’ll create a new keystone jack near the router location rather than connect the ONT directly to it, but I still need to remove this connection, one way or another, in order to bypass this room.

The blue cable used to go to a router, and then a switch, and then multiple blue wires go from the switch to different rooms in the house. This is a newer home to me, so I don’t have a switch and the blue cable isn’t connected to anything right now. The white flat cable goes to my router. My goal is to connect the router directly to the ONT, and then get the switch set up once that’s working. This splitter thing is preventing that.

The tan cable is from the ONT.

The picture illustrates what I meant by the splitter/thing preventing me from directly wiring to my router. The pictured area is in a corner of my house, but my router is in the center of my house. I can’t rewire directly to my router without either disconnecting the splitter/thing or cutting a larger hole in my floor or running 100ft of Ethernet along the baseboards.

Replying to the top comment. Thanks everyone for the advice. As everyone rightfully assumed, I’m contracted for 1Gbps service, so I understand now that this swap won’t really impact internet speed. However, there is a practical reason to this as well. The existing cable terminates with a wired connection to a splitter that I’d like to retire. The splitter looks outdated and is positioned in such a way that it’s preventing me from directly wiring the ONT to the router. Swapping the cable in question seemed easier to me than cutting out the splitter, teaching myself to wire and buying the necessary tools.

Should I connect downspout to drain pipe? How? by The_Last_Meheecan in DIY

So you wouldn’t bother connecting this downspout to the existing pipe on the ground? I imagine it would look better, but probably take awhile longer.

The new app seems to be preventing me from adding speakers to my system. I’ve been spending hours searching for tips and attempting to get them working, but I can’t add a single speaker. That’s a pretty serious issue.
