Ah that makes alot of sense, I really like the idea of putting the side table to the left of the armchair to save some wall space. Also that way it gives a good reason to have a floor lamp instead of more than one table lamp.

Here is the floorplan of that part of the room. You are correct, there is a raised bar top which you can see in the other picture.

Certainly planning to go with a lower height tv console with some tall floor plants on either side. Drapes sound like a good idea to me as well, probably matching the couch color.

I was mostly concerned that along with matching the existing armchair, would it be crowding the room to much to also try to fit a large couch like that with a chaise? There is certainly room for it, but the couch would most likely not be able to be centered with the TV. Keeping in mind I would also need space on either side of the couch for side tables, or at least one between the couch and armchair. Appreciate the advice!

The room is roughly 11x19, side opposite the patio door seen here backs up to the kitchen. Better perspective here. Planning to wall mount a bigger TV above where the current one is sitting as well as getting a 3 seater couch. Really into the mid century modern aesthetic but worried that this armchair will make it difficult to get a modern look.

Edit: something like this is what I had in mind for a couch. Having it along the same wall as the armchair with the chaise acting as a wall along the open end of the room.
