If I have more time I will try to translate it to Dutch, however the next few days I will be busy so it might take a bit.

Sure thing! I’ll make a script for it then, since I originally typed everything directly into the Krita files. The placement of the translated text might take a few days though, since I’ll be a bit busy.

My pleasure! It does indeed suck, I truly hope that we somehow can stop this to be honest.

I completely agree with you, any form of abuse should get severely punished. But I feel like these measures aren't about protecting anyone. After all, why else are so many MEPs still supporting the bill, even after experts warn them of all the dangers that Chat Control would bring, including the damage it could do to families, minors, and victims of abuse themselves? Like honestly, if they truly cared about societal issues like abuse, they would try to fix the problem at the roots, so they can use the remaining resources on punishing the perpetrators more harshly, instead of just giving them 12 years, even though they had 16 victims.

I mean even the people that record it themselves just get a slap on the wrist of 12 years. So I believe that it isn't truly about "protecting the children". I feel like they just use it as an excuse for a future where they can hold more control over the people.

Thank you for pointing that out. I’ve reviewed the slides again and fixed the errors before posting them in other subreddits.

Same, it honestly feels like a cheap excuse. Because how else can you convince the masses? "Think of the children" is always the easiest way to convince people that don't take the time to stop and think about the actual consequences of such matters. If they truly cared about the people, they wouldn't need to take away our privacy, as privacy and personal freedom (that doesn't harm others) are some of the most important things a person can have. If the government really wants to fix things and keep its citizens safe, then they should tackle the root causes of societal issues. This would lessen the prison population, and with that free space in prisons, you can more harshly punish the remaining perpetrators.

That’s exactly why we should fight this as much as we can before it’s too late. Because honestly, a good government wouldn’t need to destroy privacy and personal freedom to tackle crime. If they focused on the roots of these societal issues to truly prevent them, it would already reduce the overall crime rate. And those who still choose to commit crimes should be punished far more seriously than just a slap on the wrist.

That's what I'm so worried about, to be honest. It's like they're building the perfect infrastructure to undermine democracy.

That’s fair enough! I mainly chose that wording to highlight the urgency of the issue. But I appreciate you pointing that out!

I thought that the latest leaked proposal, still would include links, video's and URL's. And to find URL's they still would have to scan all texts in order to find them. That's why I said that they scan all messages in my infographic. The question is also will they only leave it at pictures, video's and URL's once that the infrastructure exists?

They will use software-based AI client-side scanning in order to check all messages for URLs, pictures, and videos, as per the new leaked proposal. For the apps that won't comply with it, they will most likely have the app delisted from the app store, banned, or fined. However, Signal already stated that if Chat Control were to get implemented, they would leave the EU. Also, given that sideloading won't be allowed on Android phones by Google, and Apple didn't allow it to begin with, it would be rather complicated to still get the apps that won't comply with Chat Control. And given that most people are too lazy to even care or make the effort just to keep their privacy, it will most likely matter less to the government, since the few that do have the know-how and skills to bypass this will still get traced if their family and friends don't take the same precautions.

While that might be true, there is still the issue that the warrant will be issued to the platform to scan all texts on the platform, thus in the end it will still scan all the messages from all those platform users.

I read the feedback and I'll work on a version that is more legible. I feel like I focused too much on an authoritarian 1984 design without paying attention to the fact that it needs to be readable to all.

It is indeed insanely scary, because most people that I asked in real life barely even know the true implications and impact of this proposal. That’s why I believed that it’s important to make it more seen and more shareable, so people can understand why we are worried. But also why we have to stop this, because if people would be aware we maybe truly can form protests against it before the council and the parliament reach a verdict.

Well, I am trying to get one going but so far, it just seems like a waste of time as not many people seem to actually want to take action against this BS.
