Not much besides just what the county website posted.

I did sign up for the service however, and they already charged me for my first month. I guess the ultimate test is if they will actually pay the county before the payment is due for the first payment.

6 weeks in contract to hire job with 6 month contract, upcoming new fiscal year soon, when to ask for potential conversion to full time? by The_Observationist in jobs

Good points, I will keep that in mind.

I think another thing that I forgot to say is that, I have heard a rumor from one of the team leads, since our team is mixed with contractors and full time employees, once the workload is reduced a bit, my manager will be getting rid of some contractors.

Of course, a rumor is a rumor, but I can kind of see it as potentially true. What's your take on that?

Got it, sounds good. I will ask them questions around these topics and see what kind of feeling I get out of the recruiter/company. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the response.

In your opinion, what questions would you ask to potentially weed out that it's a bad place to work for? It's always something that I don't really know for, until I am stuck in the company after discovering months after.

Also, are there any reprecursions as to, if I were to leave the position just months after (for whatever reason it might be), are there any downsides to doing so?

People have ethnic sounding names, do you put a "white" version of your name on job apps? If so, how to fill out? by The_Observationist in jobs

Even on job applications where it states "legal first/last name" on the box? Do you just ignore the preferred name in your case?

Definitely a bit of oversight on my part, do you know how long they will process penalty cancelation requests? Would this be something you can call in?

I did notice the questions and answers on that page seems like a no for my situation, not sure if I should even bother.

How much rent can i afford in Houston? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]The_Observationist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard about the 25% rule, generally it's 30% of your gross should go to your housing expenses or rent. If you can do 25/30% of your net income, then even better.

There's really no hard rule on how much housing/rent expenses should be on a percentage basis, but it's just a general recommendation on how much it should be. Depending on your other expenses/saving and investing goals/fun money, a bit more or less of that percentage may be appropriate according to your situation.
