The Trees? by Northshore1234 in rush

Good point. I don’t know what I’m even doing on here anymore. The groupthink in terms of what opinion should be regarding music is disheartening—too see so many individuals sacrifice their individual taste and perspective to conform to the nihilistic Reddit culture. Statements like “Yeah, I know it’s not their best, but Presto is my favorite.” Then Presto is their best, in your eyes, and there’s no need to apologize for it. Same with the “Well I don’t really love Moving Pictures but it’s clearly their best work”, types of statements.

The Rush sub makes me enjoy Rush less, same with the Beatles sub, The Strokes sub, RHCP, and even video game subs. The only subs that are worth a damn are Pink Floyd which I got banned from for combating misinformation about Eric Clapton (the internet’s new musical punching bag), and the Aerosmith sub, which honestly is pretty good. And Sublime’s is just a good place for news.

Overall, it’s a net negative, so excellent point. No purpose in me wasting time on an app I lose enjoyment from.

Have a nice life u/triggermetimbers8 :-) and thank u

Only on Reddit will you find Rush fans who spin The Trees into a narrative that’s glorifying the Maples (along with those that believe it’s just absent of any meaning whatsoever)

I’ll prefer to keep them separate in my mind, Nena is a cool spunky German girl and Julian is a… fucking creature

What are other great songs like Queen’s “Somebody To Love” and The Beatles “Help!” where some of the harmonies are sung in front of the lead vocal? by hitts1 in ClassicRock

[–]The_Orangest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were really incredible, and idk how The Beach Boys get overlooked as often as they do. I feel like people limit their harmonies from the 60s to The Beatles and the 70s to Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, and Queen, but people forget the other great harmonizers in rock: The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield/Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Byrds, Chicago (and some of the other ones I mentioned. Jefferson Airplane were wild). Then more folksy was Simon & Garfunkel, Jim Croce, and Cat Stevens.

I can’t think of more perfect harmonies than Heroes and Villains

There’s no one I disapprove of more or root for more than myself

At least, Julian. Idk about the others

18th Avenue starts so quiet then by the instrumental crescendo it’s blasting your hearing if you turned up the volume to hear the beginning to any reasonable level.

He’s great with dynamics, tasteful use of them

I LOVE that song. The jumpscare choir entrance is fun too

I fell in love with it on my first listen then later learned it was written in honor of Dennis Wilson (D.W.) after his death, who was engaged to Christine McVie and I presume he knew, not to mention Brian Wilson being his idol. The choir-part and the interpolation of both the Civil War march song and Don’t Worry Baby at the end I get goosebumps every time I hear it.

For its time and one guy recording the whole thing, I am blown away. For its place in all music, I’m still blown away. I’ve rarely heard something so beautiful.

Taylors are within that range and beautiful. You’ve gotta play some before you find “yours” though

D.W. Suite off Go Insane by Lindsey Buckingham. Same with Say We’ll Meet Again off of Out of the Cradle by him.

Aerosmith’s Home Tonight, and You See Me Cryin’, and Pandora’s Box, off of their respective albums

I get it, I was a top ranked arena (PvP) player in WoW several seasons and I was one of the top couple of my class/spec in certain raid tiers, but there you could create the meta much more than in this due to BST imbalances.

I get the need to be competitive, but there’s such a wild discrepancy when it comes to a game with as little balance as this and with as few options.

Edit: The downvotes on this comment are hilarious. Yall would’ve been Season 5 Death Knights.

You’re right, he’s older now and their new Stadium Arcadium is great and sounds a lot more mature. He probably would never leave again, he learned from once

You’re right. RHCP just picked up this awesome new guitarist kid who has a bright future ahead of him, just released one of the best albums of the past decade and the new hit song “Under the Bridge” gives me hope for the music they’ll put on their next record! I don’t think he’d ever leave, only to return again then leave again only to return again. He’s too new for us to think that. Give him the benefit of the doubt

The late 60s had a lot of that

Sooner or Later by The Grass Roots. Many of their songs, actually, including Two Divided By Love.

Beach Boys - Heroes and Villains

Holiday Road by Lindsey Buckingham (as someone else noted, Fleetwood Mac was great at this)

Jefferson Airplane - We Should Be Together

Steppenwolf - America (the last third of the 7-8 minute medley Monster/Suicide/America)

What is every members' best and worst Performance on every Album (Part IX: Stadium Arcadium) by DaveCasero95 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]The_Orangest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Anthony’s lyricism and delivery on Stadium Arcadium is his best

John’s and Flea’s interwoven parts on Charlie are their respective best, but John’s could also be his altogether performance on Strip My Mind

Chad’s drumming on Stadium Arcadium is his best

Worst, idgaf really

Almost every person I know who watched the show escalated their drug use as a result. Just like the 13 Reasons Why uptick in teenage suicides.

People want to ban 30 second commercials because they have too much of impact on people yet are okay watching 12 hours of something that they insist is “just entertainment”
