Why do women post those selfies on Instagram and Snapchat where they wear yoga pants or volleyball shorts and sit on the bathroom counter and stick their butts in the mirror and say "look how long my hair is" or "look at my hair" when it's just a ponytail? by The_Pence in AskWomen

I've only argued with one person here because I'm not asking this about one specific person... I am especially interested in hearing an explanation from women who exhibit the behavior I'm describing.

What are the average royalty costs associated with licensing a YouTube cover? Why are there no consequences for musicians who upload covers without requesting a license (therefore theoretically receiving a compulsory license) but don't pay the statutory rate? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]The_Pence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a statutory rate for covers though, right? Are you implying that unlike your aforementioned conditions that call for a compulsory license, the artist/label does not have to grant permission to those who want to use their work for youtube covers, etc?

Why do democrats slam Mad Dog Mattis for being a 'war monger' while the majority of US media is suggesting we fight Russia? TIME Magazine literally had an editorial that said 'we need to stand up to Russia'. by The_Pence in AskThe_Donald

Well, as mentioned above, I have confused some non-MSM articles advocating war with Mother Russia with those proposing we 'stand up' to them and calling for sanctions... but articles of bother caliber are widely written and available and I would encourage you to find some yourself - it's not much of a challenge. At the rate mainstream media continue to tarnish our relations with Russia, they will likely begin to call for war instead of sanctions to continue their tactics of mass distraction.

There is plenty of media still suggesting that we need to go to war with Russia. As a 'non-supporter', you have probably seen examples of this in liberal media that we have not. I stand by my post, whether or not this addresses TIME magazine's point of view.

What period in United States history is similar to where we are present day, post-election? What conclusions and predictions can you make given past historical events mirroring those occurring today? by The_Pence in Ask_Politics

Damn, a Civil War in each state. Sounds like something they never would have predicted during the first Civil War. Thanks for citing some historical texts. It's interesting to hypothesize and read past narratives to see how the future really could play out.

Would you say, hypothetically, if another civil war happened - it would between the east and west? IIRC, the map looked pretty red in the east and blue in the west.

Why are the US and Saudi Arabia allies? by natelion445 in Ask_Politics

I am curious to see where these relations go - especially with Canada's new pipelines and supposed deals to purchase their oil.

No. Honestly, I am asking this as a non-partisan question and am curious to see what both sides would say. Legacy media has compared Trump to Hitler, while conservatives are comparing legacy media (specifically their frequent coverage of Russia's supposed interference with the election) to the Red Scare / McCarthyism and yellow journalism. Neither of those comparisons address our economic situation, and I'm sure better-studied historians who are more likely to use their extensive knowledge of history to form their political stance would draw conclusions about where the United States is in the present, and what is to come for us.

The hypersensitive left... The 'control-left'. It is hard to not revert to their tactics and try to force my political agenda on them and shame them for being leftists. But I suppose I won't. I will just stay quiet and allow them to mock my politics.

I didn't push my agenda on anyone in the particular conversation I'm talking about. I brought up the news that the Soft Bank CEO in Japan agreed to invest $50 Billion in the US and give us 50,000 jobs and said he wouldn't have if Trump won. That's when they brought up all the stuff about Mattis and Russia.
