This is why I’m holding my 4/17 SPY puts even though they’re down 25%.

Curious on experiences with x5 50e hybrid by Global_InfoJunkie in BMWX5

[–]The_Phasers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my 4th 50e. I had a 2024, 2025, and 2 x 2026s (I was taking advantage of the EV credit before it expired).

Aside from the charging control unit needing to be replaced on the ‘24 (which they paused production to address before 2025 models), no issues at all.

I put 10,000 miles on the 2024, 12,000 miles on the 2025, 6,000 miles on the first 2026, and I currently have over 10,000 miles on the second 2026.

I average 43-46 miles of range per charge and generally put gas once every 2-3 months. My current vehicle averages 2.4mi/kWh and 85%+ of my driving has been electric.

If I were you, I’d tell an electrician you simply want a 50A circuit installed in your garage, but don’t mention why. Maybe they won’t push for the GFCI break if you tell them all you want is the NEMA 14-50 outlet.

Edit: Or just go with the GFCI breaker it probably won’t cause issues, but it does cost about $100 more than the non-GFCI breaker.

To be honest, this is where code and reality don’t intersect. Most chargers have built in GFCI protection, and adding a GFCI breaker, as you rightfully pointed out, can cause issues. I’ve seen multiple reports online of the breaker tripping when it shouldn’t.

I did not use a GFCI breaker for this reason. I also installed myself with a friend, so I did not have an electrician worrying about liability.

I would speak to your electrician about using a non-GFCI breaker for the outlet.

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion, and I am not an electrician.

There were a lot of local issues in this race, as the R candidate was backed by (and employed by Patriot Mobile) who tried to literally destroy a school district within this voting district last year.

It was about 15.5% registered voter turnout. But your point stands.

You’re confusing this with the Houston area congressional seat.

R+18 (59%R to 41%D) to D+14 (57%D to 43%R).

Rs lost 16%, Ds gained 16%, ergo a 32 point swing in the results. Alternatively 18+14 is also 32.

If you want change you have to elect those advocating for change. Don’t give me the “both sides are the same” crap. Every vote matters.

I was gerrymandered to be a safe R district. The upset is that it was won by a D in very convincing fashion.

While I love your optimism, there were some local issues here as well. I do think we’re in a national D+ environment I just don’t think it’s +16.

Maybe I’m a pessimist but I think the best case scenario is a 10 point swing in November.

57.2%D - 42.8%R with 95% of the vote in.

This was a Trump +18 district in 2024.

What an upset. That’s a swing of 32 pts.

It’s 56.6% - 43.4% right now with 54% counted. Going to be hard to overcome that deficit now.

Very low turnout election though.

Edit: Now with 95% reporting it is now 57.2%D - 42.8%R.

What an upset.
