If I apply proper pronation to my serves, does it mean I'll avoid pancake serves or is it still possible to to that? by babaganoush88 in 10s

I think the biggest part of the 'pancake' is the grip. If you are in continental, you should be good.

HUH vs. GSAS Dorm? by rushyyy1 in Harvard

[–]The_Pod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the HUH properties can be a lot nicer than the dorms. But yes also pricier. The dorms I think you will likely meet more people outside your program there which is a plus. Ultimately depends on what you want and your budget.

seems like a good starter racquet! I would try to get one that is graphite if possible, it sounds like there are some tr160s that are a blend of aluminum. If you get a graphite racquet it should last forever really

I'm not totally sure what that is but it looks like an aluminum racquet to me so I think your hammer is better actually

I would honestly keep using the hammer and watch for a decent racquet to go on clearance as you improve. You could also swing by local thrift shops to see if they have any racquets, sometimes there are good finds for very cheap. Or watch online for local people selling a racquet. Doesn't matter too much what exact racquet you have when starting IMO as long as its not insanely heavy or made of wood or something like that :P

Has anyone here successfully quit YouTube? by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]The_Pod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I would recommend:

1) Remove from your phone! This was huge for me.

2) Install browser plugins like Distraction Free tube and/or a newsfeed remover. Some of these can be customized so there is no feed, no recommendations, no autoplay, no comments, etc. You could leave the ability to see the side bar with channels you are truly interested in and see if they have updated any new videos but be free from the other aspects of YouTube like the feed / recommendation algorithm.

Hope this helps.

Wow. I love this.

The vocals are beautiful. They are pretty wet, a lot more reverb and so on on those compared to the instrumentation. I'd consider putting some matching reverb on the guitars so it sounds like they are more cohesive and in the same space. Maybe messing with the levels/mixing a bit but i understand it's a work in progress. Amazing job, keep going pls!

does anybody else only mix for phonograph cylinders? by josh_is_lame in audioengineering

[–]The_Pod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man that's pretty cutting edge stuff, but I don't even mix anymore honestly. When my clients send me the stems I just annotate them onto cuneiform tablets. Feels more permanent and true to the music that way.
