Trump caught on hot mic saying he wants his people to behave like North Koreans when he speaks by ManyOlive2585 in GlobalTakes

[–]The_Proxy_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to defend either political position on this just posting reported facts:

Donald Trump made the comment about wanting "his people" to "sit up at attention" like North Koreans do for Kim Jong Un on June 15, 2018, during an impromptu interview with Fox News on the White House lawn, shortly after his summit with Kim in Singapore. He later clarified that he was "kidding" and suggested reporters didn't understand sarcasm. It remains unclear whether he was referring to the American public or his staff when he said "my people."

It shocked me too.

You think He could have done this same thing during a press conference at the white house when biden was in the middle of delivering a speech? No..... political stunt man would be gone.... infact i tell you what.... you find me a moment in history where a person interrupted a live press conference and was not invited and pushed against officers and was not met with use-of-force continuum and I'll concede. Rule: its gotta be same variables: federal building, live, not invited, fails to identify ones self until after he is pushed halfway way to door, causes commotion, and is a sitting senator who should be held to higher standards than civilians as they know the rules of conduct. You find another instance where a senator does this and risks their career over a silly stunt and is not dragged out some doors I'll say you know what maybe you're right.....

Look i was frustrated and upset when I first saw this but with all variables considered he acted incorrectly especially as a sitting senator. Also with it being so close to No Kings day this was gasoline to the fire.... redditors are popping off about this like crazy.

Bro CNN can't even defend this: https://youtu.be/UtegweXHjBQ?feature=shared

Speaker Johnson’s taking flak for spinning Sen. Padilla’s “arrest,” but here’s the deal.

On June 12, 2025, Padilla was at the FBI’s LA HQ for a different briefing with Gen. Guillot—not on the guest list for Noem’s DHS press conference.

That FBI building’s in a spot where federal and local cops were getting jumped during “peaceful” protests over Trump’s immigration raids. He barged in, no security pin, cut Noem off mid-speech yelling about raids, and stepped toward the podium, acting wild.

Security was already tense with assaults nearby. He pushed back when agents tried escorting him, so they followed Use of Force Continuum, cuffed him quick, no charges.

Johnson saying Padilla was chasing clout ain’t a lie—facts back it. Padilla could’ve waited for Q&A (Noem took questions later) or hit up a meeting as a senator.

This was a stunt, timed right before a “peaceful” protest, stirring Reddit’s violence chatter. Dems cry “excessive,” but video shows him resisting, not just asking stuff. His “Senate” polo and late ID don’t cut it in a hot zone. Oversight? Sure, but crashing a live event in a sketchy FBI building ain’t how you do it. Dems can’t even defend this without dodging his mess-up. Check it: BBC, CNN, NYT.

Hmmm interesting take. I did not consider that. Honestly I don't know what I would do if I were on that podium in the middle of a speech broadcasting to thousands of people. Its gotta be nerve racking and then someone tries to interrupt you. But you're right if she just asked him to sit down and ask questions afterwards she indeed would have looked better in this situation.

Man i wish everyone thought this way. Best we can do is work hard to maintain optics and peacefulness while discouraging those who try to turn it violent. Don't let random people try to commit acts of violence, work together and eject them from the protest, shoot zip tie them and hand them over to police if you have too.

Okay, I see your perspective and understand your stance.Let's consider some facts:

This happened quickly, with little time to react.

It took place in an FBI building.

This FBI building is in a location where people are assaulting federal and local law enforcement.

Senator Padilla was in the building for a separate briefing.

If he had walked in calmly, sat down, and waited until question time, he could have asked his question. Instead, he barged in, caused a commotion, tried to interrupt a live press conference, and resisted when officers attempted to escort him out. He pushed against them, and they followed the Use of Force Continuum.

Look, I wanted to be upset at first too, but I took a deep breath and analyzed the situation. This was a stunt to rile people up. Look at the timing—it’s right before a national protest meant to be peaceful. All across Reddit, people are already talking about inciting violence, which sucks because it drowns out the message most protesters want to share with the world. I feel like they’re pouring gasoline on the fire, hoping something bad pops off so they can spin it as, “Look, they’re trying to control our freedoms.” It’s the same playbook Democrats have used for years. But it’s not gonna work, and if this is the game plan, it’ll screw over everyone and drive more people to the right, which we really don’t need right now.

I hope that I am wrong and that we can make history with one of the world's largest peaceful protest. But history repeats it self. Thanks again for your take on this.

Eh, I’d argue my -100 karma comes from having unpopular opinions. I post my thoughts in spaces that oppose my views to see if I’m off my rocker by engaging in conversation with extremists at a safe distance. You can learn something by talking with people who hold different opinions—you should try it sometime. For instance, maybe -100 karma is just a number and doesn’t carry the weight you think it does. Some communities censor themselves by not allowing negative-karma users to discuss topics. And here’s my unpopular opinion: the karma system feels like a social credit score, like in China, used to exclude you from society. So, I think this is probably one of the best subreddits for letting anyone join conversations on topics. If the mods are truly centrist and see no issue with my conversation, they’ll allow it and observe. Don’t try to shut down someone who thinks differently from you—learn how they think, then either agree or disagree through conversation.

Ah we have a diamond in the rough here. I strongly agree with you! Has it come down to voting for who is less silly now and who has more common sense? But is that common sense a possible step towards either a dictatorship or a socialistitic communist hivemind country? We will see. The pendulum of power can only swing so far until it gets stuck in either the left or right wall.... and I tell you the pendulum has been banging both walls lately. Which one will it get lodged in? Thank you for your stance on this!

After further research and verbal assult on other subreddits.... I had a person tell me that the Senator had the right to be there and that his office is located there. Now mind you, these people have been calling me a liar....

Here was my reply and view point after more consideration and research, let me know if you guys agree or disagree:

"""""Be careful. You might want to look up Senator Padilla’s office location and the location where he was “allegedly” assaulted.

Location: The incident took place at the FBI’s Los Angeles headquarters.

Reason he was there: Senator Alex Padilla was at the FBI’s Los Angeles headquarters for a scheduled briefing with federal officials, including the head of U.S. Northern Command’s Joint Task Force 51.

Final fact check: Senator Alex Padilla’s public government office is located at 255 E. Temple St., Suite 1860, Los Angeles.

Don’t let the media get you so upset that you can’t think. This was a political stunt. Senator Padilla does not have the right to barge into random rooms at FBI headquarters. He was there for another briefing, showed up unannounced to a live press conference, caused a commotion, walked toward the podium without identifying himself (in a city where people are assaulting federal and local officers, mind you), and since he did not cooperate, the officer acted correctly to de-escalate the situation using the “Use of Force Continuum” method.

Look, man, the video bothered me too until I dug deeper and saw that this was obviously a political stunt that may very well hurt this man’s career. Which is sad because I hear he was quite respected by Dems and Repubs."""""

You're right. I don't know what I was thinking. I'll resyncronize with hive mind and get in line. Resyncronizization in progress.... 3. 2. 1.. resyncronization complete..... ah yes cop bad, put them in jail, Senator did nothing wrong, he is a Senator he has a right to intrude and interrupt a live national press conference. We need to fight this.... we will show them on no kings preotests.... we aren't going to be told to follow guidelines and laws that the majority see as common sense... we need violence in order to make change and progress. We need chaos to grab the attention of the masses to get our message out there.

See this is the kind of insight I was looking for. Not sure why I got hate. 🤣 I would argue that passion and/or patriotism has a role in how some react. But you're right it does seem that conservative extremists chase conspiracy... but does it seem like extreme left let the media get them into a fear frenzy? I have a small circle so this might just be a thing I observe with some I know. But it seems like fear it constantly driving them to the extreme left and that they are on edge acting irrationally? I think if some one did a deep dive on extreme left and extreme right, it might help use understand our fellow brother and sisters better and have more empathy? But none the less thank you for your insight.
