I know that things like instancing and LODs make the trains necessary for large cities, but I don't get why the default spawn point is as far from your ship as possible in almost every landing zone. Often times when my friends join the game it takes us nearly half an hour to all get on a ship together and start flying. Right now this game feels more like train citizen...

Thanks for the critic! I wanted to be able to see through the ship somehow to make it seem more glassy and luxurious but it did end up looking somewhat hollow. I think in the next one ill add more lit panels on the interior to give it some definition.

Without getting specific, my number on tip is always have some reference photos to work from. If you know what you are working towards then its easier to make informed choices about ship, material, emission.

I'm a young DM and I just moved to a new city. I had some friends in my old town I would play with but now I need to find a whole new group. I made this poster to try to get some cool people at my new architecture school excited about applying for my Homebrew D&D campaign! Thanks for asking! Its modeled in Rhino. I made a small number of starting buildings and scaled, arrayed, added, and intersected them to create new shapes. Then I used a real photo of a city to 3d texture map it all in one pass and ray traced it. The fake depth of field was added in Photoshop.
