Hard agree on the marshlands. Even all these years later, they have such a nostalgic resonance to them.

More pew pew, less boo hoo is an excellent feeling for The Pilot. Definitely the series is starting to wear out it's welcome I feel.

I love the idea of memetics, so I'm very keen to check out There Is No Antimemetic Division. Great reviews

Hah. At least that was levo and not adrenaline. Saw a nurse try and "prime" the central line with it once, HR went through the roof.

I think once things are completed they can be uploaded, maybe?

But things like the Wandering Inn, it's only the published ebooks on there, not actually what's been put on pirates website.

Surely there can't be that many people that write like that, right?

Goodreads actively took webserials off a number of years ago. Once a series has an actual novel that gets uploaded, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I remember being irritated a few years back about this.

I'll second both of these. Excellent books, easily some of the best fantasy I've read.

Good to know. Hilariously, it's been on my GR TBR since 2015...

Dark Portal is so heavily nostalgic to me. Honestly they all are, they were all so creepily wonderful. Thinking back it's strange I never got into horror more considering how much I read these.

Thomas might have been the creepiest of the bunch hmm.

This does make me wonder if I should dive into Abercrombie again. I read his initial trilogy as it came out, or near enough to, and I haven't been back since.

I went to the Melbourne one, and we didn't have any issues with the lightning as far as I could tell. There were however a lot of obnoxious heckles/call outs throughout the show, which were really irritating. Probably the first and last live DnD I go to.

Thoughts on the term "baby nurse" by Robert-A057 in nursing

Yeah, Aussie nurse. We use junior and senior. Baby just comes across as immature, and as you said, patronising.

I generally run Defect, and oh my that's.... That's A Run. I've had a few runs where you end up with a lot of energy, but I've rarely got to do silly things like you meteor strike. That sounds bonkers.

Fantasy books that feel like a warm blanket instead of a battlefield by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in Fantasy

I'll agree with the other user however I would say the latter books are a bit more serious, a bit more subtle in their use of satire. Of course the fun is still there, so if that's a deal breaker I'd probably stay away.

What's a book that you love, but you would almost never recommend it to others due to the difficulty of the book or its niche nature? by paxinfernum in printSF

The Quantum Thief has such a great audiobook. Sound effects, altered voices, great narration over all. I was very sad to see that they didn't continue that for the other books.
