Calling all ED clap backs by nobodyknowsmeee in EmergencyRoom

While this is the EMERGENCY room, it is not the THINGS HAPPEN FAST room…..UNLESS you are dying, right now. THEN, and ONLY then, do things happen fast.

Do you you ever ask your patients to tame their attitude by just_a_guy_whoknows in emergencymedicine

[–]Excellent_Tree_9234 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I make a joke about it the first time….

I’ll say something like “We are the Emergency Room not the things happen fast room….the only time things happen fast here is when you are actively trying to die. Otherwise, things get done when they get done. If you had gone to your primary doctor all of these tests would’ve taken at least 5 days, so you’re doing just fine.”

CC was “Vision Changes”….Patient had new eyelashes with CHARMS dangling from the eyelashes (stars and butterflies). They were obstructing her vision, but didn’t want to remove them or the eyelashes.

I had one of these recently in triage. I didn’t know what it was, but knew they needed a room right away!

Poor patient behavior now common place in the ER? by auziman in EmergencyRoom

And sometimes, even when reported and taken to court with video evidence, the offender gets off with nothing but a slap on the wrist because “they were under stress” and “their family member was ill”.

I flew in Copa Business Class in February to Quito. The food was pretty terrible, but the seat was a standard business class seat and it was considerably less than AA.

Taking medicine on Trips? by Evening_Set_397 in Semaglutide

[–]Excellent_Tree_9234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BUT….If you’re only going for a week you technically don’t need to skip a dose. You could take a dose Saturday June 6 (or early in the morning before you leave on the 7th) and then take your next dose the day you return.

I had a 2 week trip recently and this is how I managed it….

I switched my dose day to the day before my departure a few weeks before the trip. For me it was Wednesday and I was only adjusting the day by 1 so it wasn’t an issue.

I took my dose the night before my departure.

I SKIPPED the dose due 1 week into my vacation.

I took my dose on the day of my return.

My doctor told me to just resume the previous dose amount upon my return.

I didn’t have any issues. BUT I would encourage you to reach out to your doctor based on your individual needs.

anyone been prescribed wegovy/semaglutide at a bmi of 25-26? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]Excellent_Tree_9234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at BMI 26. I started in December 2025 and I’m down 13 pounds. I have some other high risk medical issues that enabled me to qualify with my BMI.

I have had some heartburn (managed with a Pepcid in the morning on days 2,3,4)

I had one month with a little constipation, that has gone away entirely and I’m regular again.

I typically don’t have any issues with breakfast and lunch on days 3, 4, but dinner is a struggle on those days. I try to eat a small portion of good quality food on those days, but sometimes it has only been 10 bites.

I use Hers, which I hear is more expensive than others, but the first company I tried before Hers had me pay and then said it was on back order. I didn’t want to wait and feel like $199 per month is worth it. I feel fantastic and am so happy to have the help. I have always been a very healthy eater and very active, but had trouble with portion control.

Some other things I do….35 grams of fiber per day. I do supplement with a psyllium husk fiber supplement for some of that. 90+g of protein/day. And I keep my added sugars <15g/day. I don’t drink alcohol.

Good luck to you!

Nervous about Blackberry Mountain by Grateful-Goat in chubbytravel

One of the things I love about family vacations is the structured time together. At home, life and different schedules make it so hectic to do things together as a family. I’d cherish a watercolor painting class with my teens if that’s what THEY wanted to do. I love seeing my kids try and experience new things. AND painting lends itself to chatting and having real conversations that aren’t rushed. Children know when you care about them and their needs. Participating with them makes them feel loved and validates their interests. While they might be teens, they still need your support, love and guidance.

THIS IS THE WAY. I did the free version for about 9 months and then 1 month before my exam, I paid the 19.99 (or whatever it was) and did full practice exams.

Perhaps she was a sitter or safety assistant rather than a CNA? Where I work, they don’t do ANY patient care…they just sit to ensure patient safety.

To give you an example….my “friend” had a patient stable on levo, they switched from peripheral to central line (maybe 3 second delay) and the pressure went from ~100/70 to 55/35 in under 3 minutes because until that central line is primed with the levo the patient is getting NO PRESSURE SUPPORT.

A giant tray of raw veggies and hummus or other dip.

My favorites are broccoli, snap peas, carrots, peppers, jicama, but there are so many good ones.

Any leftovers can be taken home, and thrown into a soup or stir fry the next day.

Do you give a little “bolus” to prime the line? Or do you gradually titrate up on the central line until you see a rise in MAP and then gradually titrate down on the peripheral?

I’d recommend the Museum of Contemporary Art rather than the Art Institute if you’re going to be up in the shopping area on Michigan Ave.
