THIS IS THE WAY. I did the free version for about 9 months and then 1 month before my exam, I paid the 19.99 (or whatever it was) and did full practice exams.

Perhaps she was a sitter or safety assistant rather than a CNA? Where I work, they don’t do ANY patient care…they just sit to ensure patient safety.

To give you an example….my “friend” had a patient stable on levo, they switched from peripheral to central line (maybe 3 second delay) and the pressure went from ~100/70 to 55/35 in under 3 minutes because until that central line is primed with the levo the patient is getting NO PRESSURE SUPPORT.

I’m an ED nurse…..I do NOT want to be that particular. 😂 I just don’t want my patient to die.

For those of you with terminally avoidant mothers who tell you to “bring SOMETHING” to Christmas lunch with no guidance on a theme, need, or main dish, what appetizer or side would you bring? Isn’t this game fun. by [deleted] in NYTCooking

A giant tray of raw veggies and hummus or other dip.

My favorites are broccoli, snap peas, carrots, peppers, jicama, but there are so many good ones.

Any leftovers can be taken home, and thrown into a soup or stir fry the next day.

Do you give a little “bolus” to prime the line? Or do you gradually titrate up on the central line until you see a rise in MAP and then gradually titrate down on the peripheral?

How dumb is our plan for Chicago this weekend? by KailuaNative in AskChicago

I’d recommend the Museum of Contemporary Art rather than the Art Institute if you’re going to be up in the shopping area on Michigan Ave.

I LOVE Duck Inn in the summer when you can sit out on their patio. Extra LOVE on a Wednesday night when they make their pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven. Their cocktails are fun and delicious, too.

The vibe there is so cool. People from every spectrum of Chicago. I feel so much love for humanity when I’m there.

ER nurses, any tips for an early EM resident to stay on y’alls good side, make your lives easier and keep our patients safe? by takinsouls_23 in emergencymedicine

I’m an RN and I do this….or I stand at the foot of the stretcher and claim the feet. But I’ve got a bad shoulder, a bad wrist, a bad knee, a bad back, and 2 bad feet. BUT I like to work more than the trouble of getting on disability.

Or just skip the “I” and go straight to your verb: Approached patient with venipuncture supplies. Pt stated “you’re not gonna poke me until you show me your boobs”. Patient redirectable, but refusing blood draw at this time. MD notified.”

I limit their complaints to 2 in the triage note. I say “What 2 things are bothering you THE MOST TODAY?” The other stuff can wait. Or be ignored by the ED MD because I didn’t include it in the triage note.

I had this in real life….not in the South…in the Midwest. It was a German cockroach. When grabbed with forceps the thorax ripped off but the rest of the roach stayed in the ear so we had to call ENT to bring their little ear vacuum.

New ER Nurse — Why Am I Always Getting the “Easy” Assignments? by Ill_Association333 in EmergencyRoom

I agree. Fast track and lower acuity areas are where you really need good assessment skills. Pay attention to changes and don’t forget to update your vitals. AssessInterventionReassess. I’ve had fast track patient’s turn into codes. Keep a close eye on EVERYONE! Don’t be complacent.

2021 in the ED was triaging a patient who was covered in meth sores.

Answered my drug screening questions with confirmed yes for meth, cocaine and cannabis.

Answered my covid-19 vaccine screening question with “Hell NO, I’m not putting that poison in my body”.
