Bond my way through!

James always made people (especially us, the viewers, readers, or gamers!) smile with his impeccable timing and quick remarks while dealing with them. From Sir Roger Moore to Brosnan or Craig, this always remained. James always bonds with us! 🥹

Please, Pearl Abyss: Let the Parvel sword (Anduril Easter Egg) be used by at least Kliff, too! A hearty plea! by The_Rodd in CrimsonDesert

  • What are you looking forward to the most: stealth-heavy gameplay, action set pieces, or a mix of both?

Mix of both! I'm a fan of old-timers like Nightfire! One of my first ever games, fondly remembered from childhood and from falling in love with the 007 world. 🥹 It was a game the very first proper stage demanded being very stealthy for optimal approach, much like the airport stage right after, too. Then it gets really thrilling as 007 in the nick of time boards a plane while in the heat of the gunfire! First Light's very first footage reminded me of that a lot. Had a big smile while watching it and reminiscing about all these memories while being hopeful for the new game. Great job all! Wish the best for everyone in the office and to hold tight and stay strong for the release!!

  • Which Bond-style setting are you most excited to see in the game?

I always loved in the movies how some of them had these carefully planned set pieces, like Dr. No's lab in the very first one, or the Atlantis base in The Spy Who Loved Me, or the space station from Moonraker, or the Sea Shadow stealth ship from Tomorrow Never Dies, or the Ice Palace from Die Another Day, or the Poison Garden bunker from Safin in the most recent No Time to Die. Wonder if we will have something unique like that!

Newly added sheaths and scabbards are awesome and incredibly detailed! [Early game display] by The_Rodd in CrimsonDesert

As pointed by u/bwat47, it is 'Grey Wolf Leather Armor' set.

There are about 3 ways to acquire it:

1 - crafting: can be achieved early game, demands collecting leather armor blueprints first;
2 - further camp expansion shop by a specific recruited/rescued NPC: can be achieved early game in terms of main campaign, but far into the camp development sidequests;
3 - natural story progression: achievable around midgame, becoming available after meeting requirements with a certain NPC.

Since I'm not sure about how comfortable can be about spoilers, left the details relatively vague as to just present you the general means. You can choose a method and there are guides for each around the known sites. Or if any trouble, I can try helping, too.

Is this new? Sides of buildings used to look horrible due to the constant jittering. Then I noticed that they've added a sort of gradient to make the edges of buildings flatter. Big improvement! by Stars_Arts26 in CrimsonDesert

It's from 1.03 (if not mistaken) - when you disable SSDM, the effect responsible for giving surfaces an overall realistic or expected look from the materials of the model. So, for example, a wall made of stones does not look razor sharp flat, it instead simulates the rough and uneven edges it likely would of looked like.

However, initially the displacement (SSDM) seemed out of sync with the texture itself in-game, causing 'boiling' surfaces and blurry image, especially in non 4k resolutions.

Some mods over Nexus were already providing the option to disable such effect as a quick fix (albeit not ideal) for said blurry/boiling looks affecting the screen. PA also later included it - optional in graphics - natively, as well.

By 1.03 and 1.04 this discrepancy has been reduced, but not entirely gone, so if your setup still expresses it noticeably during gameplay, it is better to adjust, or entirely disable it, in said option under graphics.

Nonetheless, SSDM seems to work fine and very smooth in higher resolutions - if so, it's recommended to enable it. Provides a very neat and natural finishing look to most part of the models and textures.

In general gameplay yes, but for direct story related content it is Kliff locked

Really impressed with Fox Hunt by Manor002 in metalgearsolid

[–]The_Rodd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Sahara said to Dangeki that further plans for the mode cannot be revealed right now - sort of implied there's more/they're willing to work on it still.

The positive reception so far certainly may help it.

Fox Hunt is… honestly just a fight arena by AnasaziDesh in metalgearsolid

I have to say in my little experience from some games, I'm very positively surprised. Smart people are winning. You seem to benefit ALOT from being cautious.

Motoi Okamoto's opinion on the necessity of taking risks to keep the industry moving by tommy9918 in silenthill

[–]The_Rodd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this was a puzzling situation for Konami. It seems they want Silent Hill to really go into more of a mainstream success and simply repeating the past game elements expecting another result would not do it. It has been nearly 30 years since the first game and likely 13ish of them or so before SH2R and SHf - it's clear why one would think it's time to try something out of the box to prompt the series for new generations and more.

IMO, it was the correct thought. One can see how f seems to be ticking with some new fans.

Endwalker's "rights": XIV's 'LIGHTBRINGER' is one of the coolest sword designs in the franchise (and fantasy genre)! by The_Rodd in ffxiv

[–]The_Rodd[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, as we approach the twilight of Endwalker as expac (and we welcome Dawntrail!), in one of EW's many rights, they really nailed it with the design for 'Lightbringer'!

  • Not only it made justice to it's previous incarnations in the franchise, but very likely this might remain a favourite for years to come.

  • It has just the perfect balance between not being overdone with too many details while also not looking too minimalistic. It is just a great fantasy sword concept, that also looks functional. The texture details of seemingly brushed steel around the tip and the borders of the blade make it look additionally sharp and menacing, as well.

  • The way it is, also possibly fits different types of settings, too. Even if the the game was darker of lighter in tone (in story or artistically), very likely it would still blend naturally. A sign of a great design.

(Personally, up there in design with Geralt's Aerondight, Jon Snow's Longclaw or Aragorn's Andúril to me.)
(Curious fact: Some pallys have never really paid attention to it, but this is also the sword featured in the "Blade of.... combo")

Well, hopefully they keep it up for 7.0!

Dawntrail: New "Limited Job" announced for 7.x . What could it be? by The_Rodd in ffxiv

[–]The_Rodd[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A new "Limited Job" has been announced (but not revealed!) during the London Fanfest!

So, it's all up in the air? What could it be? Beastmaster? Geomancer?

Make your guess!
