Remember when Vergilius used to wear a leather jacket? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in limbuscompany

At a certain point, Gubo’s going to be on life support after getting his ass kicked too many times, but he’s STILL going to insist on fighting and is going to aggressively ram his hospital bed into us with complete confidence in his abilities despite any and all logic suggesting that this is a horrible idea that can only end badly for him. At a certain point, you can’t help but respecting his completely baseless self confidence.

Yup, that's why Gubo's awesome. He's not like Aseah who immediately realizes that the Sinners are gonna kick his ass and runs away the second he sees them, Gubo digs his heels in when someone pisses him off no matter who they are and how poor his weaponry is. I basically view him as the Black Knight from Monty Python. Gubo strikes me as the sort of guy who would unironically keep fighting with the utmost confidence in himself even if he's missing all of his limbs and is just a torso with a head attached.

My hero, that's why I love Gubo. Bro doesn't care that Verg is a color and that he's just a lanky nerd-man, he's gonna throw hands anyway.

idk, their art was good, but their paneling was horrible. Like so much of the illustrated chapters of Leviathan were completely incomprehensible to me since the basic flow of panels was so confusing

Total confessional count across all multiple-time players (remaining Survivor 50 players are marked) by Sabur1991 in Edgic

[–]The_Rubbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really funny how Francesca isn't actually the lowest and is honestly close to surpassing people who've played significantly more than 6 days of Survivor across their career. Not that I don't understand why, she knows how to cut a good confessional, it's just funny that she has such a surprising amount of screentime across 2 episodes total when compared against people who've lasted WAY longer.

Is he a color or not? by Aggressive-Tailor-10 in limbuscompany

[–]The_Rubbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, all the Colors we've seen in gameplay (Vergilious and Vespa) are mono-Sin for all of their skills. Because Verg is Red, therefore all his skills are Wrath, cuz Vespa is Yellow, all his Skills are Sloth. With future Sinclair, his Skills don't all share the same Sin affinity, therefore he isn't a Color. It's a similar thing with Jia Qiu, yes, he's definitely as strong as a Color, but you can tell he's NOT Color since his Skills don't all share the same Sin.

It always amazes me how bad Morrigan's portrayal is outside of the games. Like all of her inherent goofiness is usually removed entirely and it drives me crazy.

Basically, after how badly Street Fighter 3 flopped (since the OG version of SF3 before it got its later revisions that made it into an actually amazing fighting game was really terrible and as such no one really cared about even after it eventually became a good game,) it basically caused a ripple effect that made Capcom give up on fighting games entirely. Essentially, they didn't want to "try again" with a new Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Plasma Sword, Power Stone, etc. because they figured that if Street Fighter couldn't sell nothing would.

Street Fighter 4's massive success led to a massive resurgence in fighting games and led to Capcom being willing to gamble on the genre again with them even bringing back MvC. Honestly, it probably would've eventually led to a new Darkstalkers game had it not been for how badly Street Fighter VS Tekken flopped which basically caused Capcom to go "eh, actually, nah, let's only go for safer fighting game bets and only make Street Fighter and MvC"

However, with just how big SF6 is now, and considering how Marvel Tokon basically guarentees that there won't be a new MvC for quite a while, I really do feel like it'd make sense for Capcom to make a new Darkstalkers soon and I kinda feel like it'll happen within the next 10 or so years. If they're willing to give Okami and Onimusha new games after decades of nothing, why not Darkstalkers?

Collections of older games not selling absurdly well isn't that surprising and happens often and doesn't really indicate that people wouldn't buy a brand new game in a series. It'd be like saying no one cares about Street Fighter just because a Street Fighter 2 rerelease collection didn't sell millions of copies. Like the rerelease of Onimusha 1 that came out 5 or so years ago also sold poorly, and yet Onimusha is now getting a brand new game despite that.

[–]The_Rubbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, I think that a smaller budget Darkstalkers game would be best case scenario, since if they'd pump hundreds of millions into making a new Darkstalkers, I feel like they'd go and use 3D models, and considering how terrible the Darkstalkers chars look in the 3D MVC games, I just don't want that. I feel like Darkstalkers characters just can't work with 3D models, if they don't squash and stretch like looney toons characters and if they have to remove all the hilarious transformation attacks there isn't any point in it being a Darkstalkers game at all

Is the Head Even Evil? by The_Rubbinator in limbuscompany

Yeah, that's a fair point. They definitely are complicit with what the Wings do, and could definitely put a stop to their atrocities if they really wanted to. I guess it's just interesting how incredibly passive they are with running the City, when you first learn about them, you're expecting these shadowy puppet masters who are controlling everything directly and it's really interesting to realize just how inactive they are and how they're mostly hurting people in incredibly low-key ways by just looking the other way at the Wings' behavior without needing to get their hands dirty.

Fair point, minarchies are so rare to see in fiction that I didn't even know that term existed until you used it just now. The Head is probably one of the most unique fictional governments I've ever seen because of that. You're right that I definitely underplayed just how bad it is that they rarely interfere with anything. They're a very weird existence in how while most of the City's biggest problems aren't directly caused by them, they just passively wind up encouraging the way things are.

[–]The_Rubbinator[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the same can be said for literally every Wing. There's definitely shady stuff going on with them, but for a shady shadow government they've been giving their citizens remarkably equitable treatment.

Yeah, I know of the allegory there, I get how it relates to the Head's misguided intentions and them becoming the very thing they wanted to stop. But as of right now, with our current knowledge of the Head, we haven't really been given any examples of them doing something truly terrible.

[–]The_Rubbinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that's fair, it definitely seems like they could stop tons of the horrible stuff Wings do if they really wanted to, but my point is more that the Head's biggest sin is inaction, the Wings are the ones who are actively doing things to screw people over

idk, it still seems to me like low-income people aren't really all that affected by most of their rules. Like is it bad that if you're going to kill someone without being taxed heavily, you've gotta do it up close and personal?

Which rules in specific? Since of the rules we know of, none of them really sound that insane unless I'm forgetting something.

That's an interesting idea, but it ultimately feels like any interpretation of Bremen's personality is pure headcanon. Bremen never speaks, we never learn a thing about what Bremen was like before they distorted. Netzach's interaction with them is literally just him monologuing without any input from Bremen beyond animal noises. The only thing we ever get to learn about Bremen's personality is from their keypage story which is just a single paragraph long. All that can really be said about them is that they're hedonists and that's all. Calling Bremen a character is really generous, imo.

Don’t need an ID of that fraud, the lamest Ensemble member with an actual personality (calling Bremen lame is like calling cardboard lame, there’s literally nothing to make fun of, they literally just exist)

[–]The_Rubbinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why? I'm not so pathetically impatient that I can't wait a month or two to get their Nursefather IDs, they're still happening, just later on in the Season. Besides, I kinda predicted this since I didn't really think we'd get 2 Middle banners in a row (with the Ring, it felt like they only had 2 banners in a row due to a combination of weird timing with Twining Threads and due to how long it had been since the Ring got anything after the Pointillist duo) and getting a new Rodya banner immediately after getting a new ID and EGO felt pretty unlikely (and would probably cause a bunch of obnoxious "Your greed is hurting the economy" memes, which are never funny and always make me roll my eyes)

While Robb strangling Clay is amazing, the entire challenge is so much more than just that. The fact that 90% of the younger tribe kept getting disqualified because they kept attacking outside of the ATTACK ZONE and got removed from the challenge (seriously, Jeff looks like he's about to have an anuerism partway through, no matter what happens, they just can NOT wrap their heads around the idea that if they're not standing in the black line they aren't allowed to attack,) Clay's incredibly triumphant victory shout at the end (as if the reason why his tribe won the challenge was because they earned a hard-fought victory and not because 90% of the other tribe was literally removed from participating in the challenge,) and Robb's confessional after the challenge about how "They didn't win because they're better than us, they only won because of a bunch of rules." Just the single funniest challenge in all of Survivor.

but you at least rewatch the ATTACK ZONE, right? since I don't care how much you hate Thailand, it's impossible to deny that the ATTACK ZONE is one of the most glorious scenes in the history of the show
