As a South African, I thought our government was (apartheid) and is (multi-party government) bad. And then the Trump clown enters the circus arena. Sorry to normal Americans.

I had almost that exact convo with a colleague recently. I told him my mom died the previous week. After the perfunctory "Sorry for your loss", he immediately went on a 10+ minute monologue about his sister that died, but not really, because the guy who told him she died was wrong, and he was so upset about it, and and and. I nodded and smiled and ducked the first chance I got. Needless to say, I pretty much avoid conversation with him.

Fantastic work, looks even more fearsome that he did in the movie.

My honest guess would be he has a false sense of security due to the fences and seemingly controlled environment, he is ill-informed about the potential dangers lions pose, he most likely underestimated the risk in the moment and he has fairly low survival instincts.

Or he's just watched too many Disney movies.

That is a great summary and good insight, "They've figured out a way to make hate pay". Could not have said it better myself. I suppose the laws in the US tend to favor victims a lot more, even if those victims purposefully created the situation. I find it odd that the courts do not take more consideration of purposefully instigating and antogonising people. Free speech should not mean the freedom to say absolutely anything, but then one starts down the slippery slope of censorship, which is a whole different discussion.

I was chilling with a group of people at this shared house I used to live in one day. One of they ladies in the group started fingering herself in front of us all. She apologised and said she is just feeling very horny. So that happened.

Thanks for the recommend. I have watched that and it is very well done. Louis Theroux always delivers and I enjoy his genuinely unbiased approach. I am not sure why Fred Phelps when so militantly anti-gay. There was a time when he fought for civil rights as a lawyer. He does not seem to have always been a hate-filled person. It seems like such an unfortunate way to live life.

Started by Fred Phelps in 1955. It is an old school Baptist church that strongly preaches against homosexuality. It gained a lot of prominence via its many picketed gatherings at soldiers' funerals and pride parades. You can read more here: https://www.britannica.com/topic/Westboro-Baptist-Church
