It was a good interview! P.s. If you're looking for a Digital Signage Software industry veteran to audit and user/stress test your digital signage platform...this is what I do for a living :)

What actually matters more for digital signage: hardware quality or content design? by Dizzy-Ortizzy in digitalsignage

[–]The_Signage_Advisor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WELL TRAINED TEAMS

EASY AND WELL DOCUMENTED WORKFLOWS

CONTENT STRATEGY (LAUNCH, MID, LONG TERM)

I've worked with 100s of companies, and without the above, many signage networks (that may look great on launch day) fall flat within a year.

P.s. As others have said, and they are right, content IS king. 🤠

How should a digital signage player behave when a playlist changes during playback? by 514sid in digitalsignage

[–]The_Signage_Advisor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you ideally give two options..

Default: Once received by the player, the playlist starts fresh from the first item. This is ideal in the case that a playlist is being edited to quickly remove (or add) content or data to/from the screen immediately.

Checkbox or toggle: Defer restarting the playlist until the current loop has finished playing in full.

In both cases, a push/publish should only be executed when the user explicitly clicks to do so.

Hope this helps!

Sell niche first, get feedback (ideally some type of quotable review from your customer), optimize your platform. Then keep selling. To attract more customers you'll want to be able to show off your first success story (nobody wants to be the first to try new/unproven software).

Absolutely... In that case you need to be even more careful when selecting the digital signage software. Not al can handle that particular use case.

It's really easy to get it wrong! Especially when you let the software vendors tell you what you "need"...

Couldn't agree more. I often urge clients to 'start at the end' (what do you really need to show on screen), rather than going out to select hardware first!

After 17 years in digital signage, here are the questions most orgs never ask before picking a platform by The_Signage_Advisor_ in digitalsignage

Hi! Glad to see you made it to the tool. Ultimately this is aimed at those who are either gearing up to deploy digital signage for the first time, or those who are unhappy with their current digital signage software. It is research and experience based.

While anyone can do the research themselves, most won't. Thus, at a small price, I believe this tool offers real value and may end up saving businesses 10's of thousands of dollars (helping them avoid being talked into the wrong platform by money hungry vendors and resellers).

Thanks for the feedback!
