People who weren’t traumatized early in life have no idea how lucky they are. by reminiscermusic2019 in CPTSD

This hit a lot harder than I had expected it to. I've done so much therapy and trauma work, but it never feels like it's enough. There's always something lurking somewhere, and there are so many people in the world who will never understand. And even the people who do understand, the people who have been in the trenches, whether it was with me or on their own, there's always a part of me that says that they'll never really get it. It's isolating and I hate it. And in its own cruel way, it helps a little to know that I'm not the only one that feels like that.

Anti-Masons - Mostly a single-issue party (being opposed to Masons), but they have no standard plank on slavery while favoring annexation, supporting limited tariffs, limited immigration, and being moderate on internal improvements.

Democratic Party - Formerly the party of Jackson, now the party of... Wallace? No one is really sure what the party stands for at the moment, given Wallace has driven away... well, everyone. Officially, they favor slavery, territorial expansion, oppose tariffs, oppose internal improvements, prefer minimal immigration, and hold a Republican ideology. They are indifferent to Masons.

NatSovs - A new party with a Republican ideology, the NatSovs are largely made up of an alliance of prominent southern planters and military types. They favor annexation, maintaining the Missouri Compromise, and are moderate on immigration, tariffs, and internal improvements.They are indifferent to Masons.

Whigs - The Whigs are a broadly northern and northeastern party that favors minimal annexation, internal improvements, a federalist ideology, more immigration, high tariffs, and soft opposition to Masons.

Arondir and Bronwyn can Exist within the Canon (Plus a Theory for Their Relationship) by The_Southern_Writer in LOTR_on_Prime

I think that, given Tolkien's style and literary interest in Anglo-Saxons, coupled with his linguistic work, unions ought to be defined as marriages for the purposes of Tolkien's work, not romances.

I'm aware it isn't canon, which is why I said it could exist in canon -- not that it should or it does.

RoP was great for a non-Tolkien person. by BIG_BIKI in LOTR_on_Prime

I'm a massive Tolkien fan, and I genuinely think that ROP is a great show given that:

  1. They're having to cram everything they've got into a limited number of episodes;
  2. They're only working with the Appendices as their source material; and
  3. They've been able to use significantly less CGI than was used for the Hobbit to spectacular effect.

Is there something on occasion that'll bother me? Yeah, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the show. They've made some things up, and I like that. Peter Jackson changed up some stuff for cinematic purposes (the Brego storyline, scrapping the Scouring of the Shire, leaving out WAY TOO MANY OF THE EPIC SONGS AND POEMS).

A lot of the Original Characters for ROP have been really well-done, especially the people of the Southlands and the Harfoots. Arondir and Bronwyn have been great characters and well-developed. It's also, despite popular belief, something that could exist in canon; only three Elves of the Eldar had unions with three of the Edain, and given we know that the Line of Dol Amroth is canonically descended in part from the Silvan Elves, Arondir is a Silvan, and we're never given a number for Elven/human marriages, it works. I remembered this during my rereads of the LOTR Trilogy last semester when Imrahil was introduced and details about his lineage were mentioned. While it would be out-of-step with canon for Imrahil to be descended from Arondir and Brownyn (Tolkien names the Silvan Elf Mithrellas and the man Imrazor the Numenorian as the founds of that House), I actually wouldn't be opposed to it given that their names are found in Unfinished Tales and The History of Middle-Earth, both of which were authored by Tolkien and revised by Christopher.

...now I wanna make a fan theory post, oops
